And on a slightly technical note...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Does anyone have a codec/plug-in for Winamp v5.5 that can play .m4a files?

I've *cough, splutter* acquired some .m4a files but I'm damned if I can play them... first time in ages this has happened..

(correction: I can get them to play on VLC, but I'm just being an ass and wanting all played through winamp...)
I give you the finger but you want the whole hand...

OK, so I might have to resort to finding a conversion program then..

Thing is, I would have thought these were unprotected (well obviously) and they're also meant to be lossless (the bitrates seem to suggest so..)

hmmm.. the plot doth thicken..

I've got a few other m4as that work fine but it just seems to be the most recent ones that screw it up...

"most recent ones"? - sounds to me like it could be a DRM issue, yet then again i could be wrong

Don't think that's the problem though.. they're not secured as I know, I think it's more the fact that it's some kind of lossless m4a file that Winamp can't read... like I say VLC plays fine but hey, I'm wanting bells & whistles when I play...
