Another new SOM reissue

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

My money's on a "mop up the tracks that were missing from the reissues" job, unless "Platinum Collection" is actually the title of the new LP ( ), revealed for the first time.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

you are under the impression we really are under the impression something interesting is about to happen? :P
then again
at this point him going for cigarettes after a gig is still shocking news for most of us

If this really is an ‘new’ release of old material then it will be something done behind Von’s back, he’ll probably won’t bother to much as he is entitled in some royalties without having to do anything. But believe me, that is the best we can hope for.

I asked in HMV and the bloke goes "yeah I've heard about that, there's nothing on our system at the moment but I guess they're just finishing the tracks now" - so in other words, no mate, you obviously ain't got a clue

The bloke in Borders said he'd heard about a new compilation but they also had nothing on their "system".

Yeah, this "Platinum Collection" was previously entitled "Some Boys Wander By Mistake." Go figure. :innocent:

a re-masterd SGWBM with the original mixes (like FALAA) wouldn't go a miss. i hate the way the reprise of kiss fades out. .>>picky old twit<<

Play.com now lists the Platinum Collection as well as the 2in1 pack and most sites are listing the release date of the 2in1 as 18/08/2008 but the Platinum Collection has all sorts of dates.

Platinum Collection sounds interesting. A remastered SGWBM with some extra's would be nice. I'll probably buy it whatever it contains.... :)

Maybe...Some sites refer to it as Platinum Collection; ONE cd. Rhino is still quiet about it. Just wait and see what happens. Meanwhile, let's hope.

That would be a funny thing really!
But unfortunately, imho platinum will be sort of a SGWBM + ASCOO, comprised mostly of A-sides.
If you see, even though ASCOO is a best of, it can't hardly define their whole career for the newcomer, hence the need for a revised compilation.

Even before I knew TSOM, I was recommended to check SGWBM as their best of "of the things I'd enjoy to hear", something like JD/NO Substance (being mostly 12" a-sides compilations) and for some time it was all I knew from the band. Now imagine my face when I listened to ASCOO as their official best of, and I got a hard rock band instead of the post-punk/goffier sounding stuff that drew my attention to them.

The Platinum Collection is something else.

Also, according to eBay:

Number of CDs: 1
Recording Type: Studio
Distributor: Cinram Logistics

Maybe someone could give Cinram a ring :D

I just phoned the record shop where I used to work and the guys there reckon that the double of Some Girls/Vision Thing is just that, nothing extra. Whilst the Platinum Collection is going to be a cheapo collection and if there was anything really exciting it'd cost alot more than £5.99-£7.99.
But there's no tracklisting on any of their trade websites. I've asked for promos but they're not too sure if there'll be anything. They came up trumps with the 3 album reissues, so who knows?
It looks like we'll have to wait and see, but i don't think it'll be that all singing and dancing boxset we all want.

matt..

Now now, let's not get too excited.

They might just have recorded another Temple of Love and backed it with another version of Alice
