Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.
hi, i'm an 'old' goth - stuck in the back of beyond and looking to find some likeminded people who must still be out there! (and not the emokids dressed in black which is what passes for goth round here!)
sisters a very old and favourite band so thought i'd start here!
anybody else bored beyond endurance?!

thanks for the welcome, will be nice to speak to some people over the age of consent! that actually know what 'proper' goth is - not that i'm not open to new stuff but, well, you know what i mean (i hope!)
all this is a bit new to me - forums and all that - used to have 'sounds' in the old days - pop an ad in and penfriends galore (how quaint!) now i find myself stuck here on my own, hard to find people like me - hopefully am addressing that here and now

no, sweetheart, you're a bit older than my son so that's ok!
i'm just over 40 - and feel a whole lot more! had a bit of a grim time a few weeks ago when i went to 3 gigs in a week - terrorvision, ministry and wedding present. they were all great but made me realize how isolated i am here - just didnt know anyone and, whilst i dont mind going to gigs on my own, 3 in a week was a bit much! need to 'meet' some new people, i really do!
nice to meet you all =

see it's on at 9 - will try and listen. dont have a great internet connection here (someone sneezes and it goes down for the whole village!) so it crashes and freezes all the time but i will surely give it a go. have had some trouble listening to music recently (bad break up and all that sh*t) but have to get back into it, it's been such a huge part of my life and i dont want to give it up
cheers

Priceless stuff, James. I vote for "Cureboy" as Steve's forum rank, if any mods are reading.
Anyhoo, Talia, depending on how far in the back of beyond you are (and some of us are out in "raound heeyaoh we haing hoss theives" back-of-beyondness), we do fairly regular meet-ups and I'm sure you're more than welcome to toddle along and say "hi" any time.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Are you in London by any chance?
If so, you could join the London Goth Meetup Group

you have meetups -cool! i live in west norfolk (and yes, i am the only one!)but london's easy enough to get to. my only problem at the mo is that i'm working weekends til october - no chance you meet up in the week is there?! otherwise, will have to wait til then. would love to meet some of you, really would.
*goes to dig out some goth stuff from the million boxes in the spare room!!*
other than that, i can now drive wherever (ex always did the driving cos i 'couldnt') but, since getting my new beloved car, missfliss, i've been all over-it's amazing what you can do when you have to

The upcoming meets/events are the Alternative Bring N Buy this Sunday (that's more an event than a meet) and a Goth Walk (about Steampunk) next Wednesday
