female vocals?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Who does the female vocals on "Dominion/Mother Russia"? Is it someone from the New York choir?

I always thought it was "Patsy" - I could, of course, be wrong!

Have checked the information in the "Floodland" CD there is no mention of 'backing vocals' - so it could have just as easily be VON.

Remember Von did ALL the vocals on The Reptile House EP AFAIK

The New York choir was only on This Corrosion I thought. I think Andy is right, it was probably Fat Pat. There are a few women listed in the Floodland Thanks, I only know who Claire was. No idea of the rest.

Don't quite believe that Patsy sang on the record myself. As a bass player who can't play very good bass, she certainly didn't play on it, so why as a non-singer would she sing on it? I wouldn't think Von did them either - sure he did the falsettos on Reptile House, and not too badly, but the backing vocals on Dominion sound completely different. I would guess perhaps a session muso, heavily squeezed through synths perhaps, but not a band member... Maybe we should ask him...

what do you mean? Is Von doing the female vocals?? :) If that is the case, he is truly a voice genius.

Haha, thank you. We often start out with good intentions, and then lose confidence in ourselves along the way. I like your avatar too - is it an amoeba? It looks quite like my older brother.

my new avatar was gracefully lifted from: http://www.thesistersofmercy.com/gen/rrr9/rrr9.html

I liked it more than the other pics because it moves.

don't there browse too much. They might overshoot their traffic limit and be forced to pay more, and have to dip into the recording budget  :innocent: :urff: .

Then maybe not.
