No, it's not had big media coverage like Facebook, MySpace etc - and it serves a different purpose.SINsister wrote:Never heard of it, actually. Should I have?

I tried it and then deleted it, couldn't be bothered actually using it tbh
I use it a lot when I can't get near interwebs and feel the need to let people know about something...

Social networking? I get all of that I need from HL.

but part of what i do involves keeping up to date with emerging trends, so i at least owe it to myself to work out what it can and cant do, and how we might be able to utilise it for our client sites...

And Facebook just changed itself into an even bigger mess recently. The new version is crap! (not to mention the new version of Last.fm)nodubmanshouts wrote:Its like 1% of what Facebook does.

I don't think that Twitter can be called a social network. That's not its purpose, and that's why comparisons with social networks such as MySpace and Facebook ultimately fail. Twitter is more akin to SMS messaging en masse, but less intrusive.

In that case, I obviously don't know enough about it. Off for some research...

This might explain it better. I don't go to the twitter website - I use a Google widget called BeTwittered (I use a customised Google page as my browser homepage) to display latest Twitter posts (and to post my own). Embedded like this you can perhaps see how it's about bite-size communication like SMS rather than blogging or social networking:markfiend wrote:In that case, I obviously don't know enough about it.
