Confessions...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

 2 of my sisters were fans many moons ago so I got to hear quite a lot of Supertramp for a while. They are one of those bands who break the rules for me, where I like a couple of their songs (Fool's Overture and another I can't recall) despite being utterly nauseated by the rest of their output and general sound. I think they're mainly responsible for my hatred of electric pianos, large glasses and bad 70s attire - John Anthony Helliwell creeped me out the most :urff:

I'll shut up now

Hey Andrew, how many sisters have you got? I think music is very much a time and place thing. It's all about associations. Certainly the Sisters are for me. Genarally out of my usual tastes, but so much in my soul.

I'm a cubicle man too. I think it comes from hiding from the bullies at school.

I have 3 sisters, none of whom share my taste in music. During their Supertramp era (80-81), I was very much into Pink Floyd, as was my sister's boyfriend, who introduced me to Peter Gabriel and Genesis. Mind you, he was into Supertramp as well but I still resisted conversion. So, in a strange way, I suppose I associate Supertramp with Pink Floyd, which alleviates some of the pain when I hear them

80's Floyd would have been The Wall then? I had older brothers, hence my Dark Side Of The Moon fascination. And Uriah Heep. And Bowie. And Zeppelin. And... As I said, it's all about associations.

So, which Sisters gigs have you been to since the Silver Bullet tour?

Oh yes, and I prefer post Gabriel Genesis. The Lamb Lies Down is indulgent art wank IMHO. Heresy in James' eyes no doubt.

I never hid from myself.
There, another confession.
Well, I was a good bully. Lord Protector of the classmates. The menace of all others, though. Being in my team was comfy, though.

Edit: And one more: After three in the morning my spelling gets worse than it allready is. :|

I started with The Wall and worked back. I didn't get to the Barrett era though.

Just Zottegem and Suikerrock. Having difficulty getting Fridays off work, which has spoiled my plans on a couple of occasions :(

Nah, Hackett leaving was the final straw. After that, they shone progressively less and less. Duke was their last great album, although I imagine a few here might dispute that. Yes, The Lamb was Gabriel's indulgence but I still consider it my favourite album of all time. If it's wank, it's high quality wank and for me, extremely powerful music.

I do have some affection for later stuff like Abacab, Mama, That's All etc, possibly cos I got to know it first and worked my way back, so I didn't go through the distress of following the band's gradual descent into blandness. So although I find their earlier stuff far better, it hasn't put me right off their later stuff. There's such a difference, I just think of it as 2 separate bands. Mnd you, I heard In Too Deep in Morrisons today - what a pile of kak that was

Surely not as bad as being word-perfect for "The Edge Of Heaven" or "Everything She Wants"?

I also know "Larger Than Life" and "I Want It That Way" by your lot. It's a long story and involves The Headingley Taps in the late '90s

Can't see the point in confessing anything music-wise

Music was my first love, and it will be my last. Was never ashamed of any genre. (Oh and that John Miles song, still love it to bits)

Black metal, Pop music, föhnrock, folk etc etc...

N-Sync, Take That, Andre van Duin, Wham!, Rick Astley (hello Timsinister!), Madonna, Cinderella, Poison...

There's a lot of 'faux' music I still like after all these years, tho it is supposed to be uncool to like it.

All bison excrements if you ask me.
