If he didn't like the Furs, he'd need his head examined. One of my all time favorites....I just loaded their anthology to my computer Should God Forget. It's wonderful!

I wish the early Comsat Angels albums were still available on cd. They were reissued a while back, but have since disappeared again
I've got the BBC radio sessions comp and a handful of mp3s (ooh, naughty!) but I'd love to have copies of 'Sleep No More' etc.

Richard Butler is fantastic! His voice is wonderful. I am sorry they aren't working anymore on new stuff, and I like him in that next venture he did,....can't remember the name, but he did some good stuff with that.
Yes, I spent money on Should God Forget. It is very good, and spans their career very nicely. It's also got some previously unreleased versions on it too.
I have about all their stuff...all on cassette..just haven't gone out and bought it all back yet! Will have too do that...

No, but will look into it.
I've seen them live a few times, good shows. Last time was a few years back..I was the ONLY one who knew the words to the songs. Elderly Bastard Groovy has some advantages, eh? LOL
And for heavens sake, can't you get Andrew to shave! I hate him with a beard... :):);)

Andrew certainly has an excellent musical taste. And can't be denied at all.Just look at all those albums he mentioned. Each and every one of them is just splendid.Even I have some that I could find in my collection myself.So...
Cockney Rebel: The Psychomodo(1974)
Yes.That album is just brilliant.Everytime I listen to it I get the feeling that someone's tackling me inside my ears all that time through.Glam,Goth and gauche, this is the Rebel at their most irresistable. And you can even notice some great humour that's put in.
Motörhead: No Sleep Til Hammersmith(1981)
Yes.This is easily my favourite live album ever.Setting the standard for rock live albums, this contains proven crowd-pleasers throughout.Lemmy and the boys have rarely sounded this dirty and incisive on record. It's got the charge. And is perfect to put on before going on to jack up pure adrenaline.A lesson in how to make something great even better.
Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin I(1969)
Yes.A dynamic and spontaneous debut, heraldding the archetypal 70s hard rock sound from its bluesy 60s base.
Père Ubu: The Modern Dance(1978)
Yes.This album took the rock world into uncharted territory, and made a lot of the competition seem decidedly adolescent.
Hoodlum Priest: Heart Of Darkness(1990)
No.Unfortunately.Couldn't find it anywehere. *sigh*
Massive Attack: Mezzanine(1998)
Yes.Whispered lyrics laid gently over a soft bed of samples and "real" instruments.A compelling collection of songs, deep and disturbing, with the weary air of having done too much, too soon.A more guitar heavy album more than before, adding some welcome rough edges to the mix.
Madonna: Ray Of Light(1998)
Yes.Alongside the 1989's "Like A Prayer",this is the best Madonna's album that's ever been done.It is dark, emotional and up-to-date pop dance stuff as usual.William Orbit did his part of a job surprisingly well.
Atlantic Rhythm And Blues, 1947 - 1974(1985)
No.Never heard of that compilation before.
Stone Temple Pilots: Core(1992)
Yes.Leaving aside similarities with some of Seattle's finest, this boasts wicked riffs, unforgettable hooks, and a menacingly charismatic performance from Scott Weiland. An exceptional debut.
Motörhead: No Remorse(1984)
Yes.This is a splendid double compilation which contains twenty classics and four new cuts, including the unstoppable, rolling thunder of "Locomotive" and the gonzoid "Killed By Death".
The Fall: Grotesque(After The Gramme)(1980)
Yes.Smith dissects the underbelly of English society in the Thatcher years, but with some surprisingly cathchy tunes.A masterpiece.
Peace Love And Pitbulls: Peace Love And Pitbulls(1992)
No.
Talk Talk: The Colour Of Spring(1986)
Yes.The band's final nod to commerciality of their first leap into experimentation?Either way, songwriting like "Happiness Is Easy" or "Living In Another World" can hardly be faulted on an album that could be descrbed as an easy-listening version of Can.
The Screaming Blue Messiahs: Bikini Red(1987)
Nope.
The Stooges: Funhouse(1970)
Yes.This is the album they should give you away when you buy your first black leather jacket.Classic tracks include the snotty-nosed rebellion of "TV Eye",the gorgeous hymn to degradation,"Dirt" and later cover by The Damned,"1970(I Feel Alright)".Transcendetial.The album that got Stooges dropped.
The Stooges: The Stooges(1969)
Yes.John Cale produced this album and was responsible for Ron's dentist's-drill guitar tone.Iggy's gloomy vampire vocals occasionally mutate into painful whoops, while Dave and Scott provide gang-fight rhythm section support.High points include the sort-of-erotic "I Wanna Be Your Dog",the menacing offer of a "Real Cool Time",the future Sex Pistols classic,"No Fun" and the wild and furious,"1969" of course.
The Psychedelic Furs: The Psychedelic Furs(1980)
Yes.A vastly underrated, chaotic, savage, compelling and rather great debut.
The Psychedelic Furs: Talk Talk Talk(1981)
Yes.A gold mine of superior songwriting, from the discordant sax of "Dumb Waitres" to the plangent "Pretty In Pink" and the marvellously insulting "I Just Wanna Sleep With You".Elsewhere the Furs said it with flowers, but here on "Talk Talk Talk" they just said it.
Suicide: Suicide(1977)
Yes.The duo in all their post-Velvets,electro,doomladen,experimental glory.Vega swoons, croons, yelps and screams his way through some of the most frightening compositions ever committed to vinyl.Still fresh, exciting and dangerous twenty six years on.
Salaryman: Salaryman(1997)
No.Couldn't find it anywhere.
The Comsat Angels: Waiting For A Miracle(1980)
Yes.Melodic pop sensibilty and an air of brooding menace. It contains the original of their best known song,"Independance Day".
The Comsat Angels: Sleep No More(1981)
No.Couldn't get it anywhere because everytime I wanted to buy it,it was already sold out.Grrr!
The Chameleons: Script Of A Bridge(1983)
Yes.A long time in the making, but worth the wait.Stand-outs include "Don't Fall","A Person Isn't Safe Anywhere These Days",which summed up Burgess's philosophy perfectly, and, arguably their best song,"Second Skin".
Ramones: It's Alive!(1979)
Yes.Alongside Mothorhead's already mentioned "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith" this is the album to beat all live albums.
Ramones: Rocket To Russia(1977)
Yes.The peak of punk perfection.Brash and tuneful, every track is a miniature masterpiece.
David Bowie: Low(1977)
Yes.The first part of this album is insantly accessible:the songs have words, some of the words tell stories. The second section has hardly any real words, just four pieces of music with voices. All very moody and atmospheric as Bowie meets Eno meets Berlin.
David Bowie: Heroes(1977)
Yes.Featuring,in the title track, the best song of loneliness and love he ever wrote, this album reeks of dangerous liasions with creatures of mystery,of barely concealed despair, and yearning. The Eno-influenced instrumentals,"V2 Schneider" and "Neukoeln",too, paint haunting, bleak pictures of a crippled city.
David Bowie: Thin White Duke (oops! a bootleg!)
No.
Patti Smith: Horses(1975)
Yes.Everything that mid-70s American rock wasn't - it's challenging, discordant, and crammed with the dense imagery of Smith's fevered imagination. My all time female debut.
John Cale: Sabotage Live(1979)
No.
Iggy Pop: The Idiot(1977)
Yes.Crisp Bowie production and a collection of vinatge,death's-door Iggy.Classics include "Nightclubbing","China Girl" and that Saturday-night sings-to-get-ready-to favourite,"Fun Time".
Leonard Cohen: The Songs Of Leonard Cohen(1968)
Yes.The music is basic, mosty Cohen's solo acoustic guitar, inlaid with mother-of-pearly lyrics distilled from twenty years' experience of writing poetry. It is a keynote album, with Cohen's sobriety providing an apposite commentary as the decade stopped swinging.
Leonard Cohen: Songs From A Room(1969)
Yes.Opening with the famous "Bird On A Wire",this is a starkly uncompromising album with an undertow of religious imagery.
Black Uhuru: Red(1981)
Yes.Alongside Bob Marley's works this is reggae at its finest.
Joy Division: Unknown Pleasures(1979)
Yes.Joy Division's best work and one of the finest - and most influential - albums of the post punk era.At its best perhaps on the hypnotic "She's Lost Control".It shimmers along with deprivation, isolation and claustrophobia. One of the standout albums from my collection.
Hugh Hopper: 1984(1973)
No.
Cockney Rebel: The Psychomodo(1974)
Yes.That album is just brilliant.Everytime I listen to it I get the feeling that someone's tackling me inside my ears all that time through.Glam,Goth and gauche, this is the Rebel at their most irresistable. And you can even notice some great humour that's put in.

a middle class, white, sample-laden "hip hop" group. short lived, but perversely enoug they name-checked by a few famous musos and journos around at the time... i had that album for a while - i thought they were pretty dodgy actually. ok, so thay had lots of samples from very cool films, and some of the synth/guitar tunes werent too bad, but the vocals were shocking.Hoodlum Priest: Heart Of Darkness(1990)

So, how many matches can you make BEFORE you found out who was in Eldritch's top twenty? Not necessarily the same albums, but something by one of these bands? Me:
Cockney Rebel, Motorhead, Zeppelin, Massive Attack, Furs, Bowie, Ramones, Patti Smith, Iggy, Black Uhuru, Joy Division.
Be honest now...
