Peace & Love

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

My favourite quote about Ringo: (something along these lines)

Interviewer: Is Ringo the best drummer in the world?
John Lennon: He's not even the best drummer in The Beatles.

I was going to write to him to complain about Yellow Submarine being on Revolver.... basically the equivalent of a steaming turd being placed in the corner of a stately home

Still better than George Carlin, in my opinion.

Who would have expected that Starkey and Carlin would be narrating children's programs?

You still can't blame him for writing it. He should never have been allowed to open his mouth though.

true words sister claire. i feel the same about "when i'm 64" on sgt. peppers.

if these millionaire rock stars feel they owe their fans nothing then they can f**k off IMO.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

 As I've said more than once before, that album, love it or loathe it, did absolutely change my life - I still remember the exact time and date I first heard it (26th September 1994 at 7.30 pm for the record    :urff:, having said that I can do the same with an alarming proprtion of my record collection, although usually I just know the month of the year I bought it ). Without it I think it's highly unlikely I'd be here now talking bollox to you lot, I'd never have been set on the bonkers, music-obsessed, out-of-step and out-of-time course that I was. And I'd never have discovered all the wonderful things I have done, ploughing that lonely (until I joined HL) little furrow.

But in spite of all that, I do have to say, if When I'm 64 is a fully-fledged turd, there are more than a few other skidmarks lurking on that record :innocent: . With A Little Help From My Friends is maybe a good song (though a bit nursery-rhymish like a lot of stuff on there), but Ringo f**king sings it! Nuff said. Then there's the sappiness of She's Leaving Home, followed by the annoying boingy-ness of Mr. Kite, and Good Morning is just a filler as well. It's been said before but practically everything else they did from Rubber Soul onwards just pisses all over that record.

IMHO of course!
It's inevitable really. Anything that gets so much praise for being such a world-changing album is never going to be a fraction as good as People (whoever they are) say it is. Even though it was a milestone in my life hearing it, I haven't actually listened to it since I was about 11 more than about 5 times, probably :|

What a fuckingprick! Well I hope all his fans send letters after said date just to irritate him. Peace and love...come on with a message like that it would only get his fans to think twice I would think!

Peace within hl...yeah I could see that ever happening...but in general...no ways on god's green earth...

Love...all forms and shapes and levels and very complicated...but hell yeah love within hl within all the juicy parts.

As for his message...*spits on the ground* ...

Why doesn't anyone suggest founding a fan forum to the ex-drummer of that ex-band?
Letting the members of the community do the spreading of the love and peace is the best! And he should get a decent name. I was a twelve year old non-english speaking when I first heard the name "Ringo Star" and instantly thought "What a crappy name. That dude must have had a bolt in his head when picking it.".
