Just stumbled across this topic while waiting for someone to post something interesting in the 2008 Tour section. I've not read all the posts so I'm not partaking in the ongoing convo, just adding my list of Sisters songs that I think are subpar. In no particular order (other than the order they come to me in, which probably says something), I think studio versions of the following are weak:
Black Planet
No Time To Cry (the worst, probably)
Walk Away
Dominion
This Corrosion
1959
Doctor Jeep
When You Don't See Me
If it makes a difference, the first single I bought was B+S, and the B-side, Train, became my favorite song (by anyone) and pretty much remains so. I also loved YCBTO when it was released, and adore Possession, which some people seem to dislike. More also remains a log-time favorite.
Worst Sisters songs.

Doctor Jeep took a long time to grow on me, I must admit.

i just find it a bit bland and plodding.
I'm more of a Some Kind Of Stranger, Marian and No Time To Cry kinda guy.

takes more than upping the bpm to a near epileptic rate to stop it being a plodder though... there's just no dynamics to it.markfiend wrote:not in its current incarnation!Quiff Boy wrote:Gimme_The_Ring wrote:...plodding... ...Marian...

I also have no soul but think this latest incarnation of Marian has had all the dynamics (which I think were plentiful) ripped out of it. Maybe the current line up needs to do Nine While Nine for me to regain my soul?

Thinking about this, and I reckon I have too much an emotional attachment to The Sisters oeuvre as a whole to declare any of it "bad", never mind "worst".

I am with you there. My fave line-ups maybe 83/84/85 but I can appreciate everything does (except SSV )markfiend wrote:Thinking about this, and I reckon I have too much an emotional attachment to The Sisters oeuvre as a whole to declare any of it "bad", never mind "worst".

Will I Dream ... the music has something intriguing simple ...
but so far, IMHO, never managed to actually sing the lyrics he's written ...
perhaps, it's a song written past it's time ... ...

"Worst" Sisters records?? Look up "Impeccable Discography" in the dictionary and it will have the Sisters logo in the definition space. There's not a track I can think of that doesn't simultaneously capture both the Ineffable Majesty and Utter Crud of being a mind in matter. Ozymandias aside, that is.

Not a big fan of the studio versions of the FALAA album. By Sisters standards that is. Many of those songs are good live though, especially the reworked versions.

I love that album.
Aside from being an awesome album,
it has nostalgic value to me.

...and some of us wandered off entirely on purpose.
I'd rank it as my favourite as well. I just love the way it's got these layers and layers of really dense sound, and every listen turns up something new that you've never heard before on it. Never get tired of it.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
