]I must confess that I hadn't really taken in the sentence about the First Amendment. However, I'd assumed that, since there had been an initial conviction and then the appeal ruling, which argued that cartoon porn wasn't covered by the law, was overturned, the conviction must have stood and the current position must be that it is illegal. However, my interpretation could be wrong as I'm neither a lawyer nor American (and therefore not really au fait with things like the First Amendment).nodubmanshouts wrote:I may be reading this wrong - I hire lawyers so I don't have to speak legal - but isn't stufarq's quote saying virtual comic child pornography is NOT illegal?:
Like sandy666, I work in an area where the procedure is to report these things without making a judgement and to allow the relevant authorities to sort things out. I'm actually legally bound to do so in my job. As I said before, it may even be that using animated porn prevents some people from using real child porn, but Dancing isn't in a position to make that sort of judgement and, because the person in question works with children, the issue can't really be ignored. If he's determined not to be a danger, all well and good, but the relevant people have to make that judgement. I don't think you'd get into any trouble for accessing his computer - 7anthea7's post pretty much covers that for me.

I've been thinking about this thread quite a bit over the last day.
DTG, I'm confused.... you said you didn't open the links, but you think its anime porn? You haven't actually SEEN any of this? And you think its something you should go to the police over? You said "long story short", but what's the long story here? I think its important.
I'm in the minority here, but I certainly think you could get into a lot of trouble over what you have done by accessing his computer. I'd be interested to here in what the outcome is here.

Actually, you could have an important point there. If all DTG has are suspicions rather than evidence then she could end up getting a man investigated when he hasn't done anything. And this kind of stuff sticks, justified or not. Be sure you have good cause before taking any action.
On the other hand, the name of at least one such site seems to be well documented. I kept running into it while trying to find the legal information I've posted and the quote I used came from a wiki page specifically about that site. So I guess DTG could have recognised the names of sites if she'd heard of them before.

Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

@nodubman, etal....thanks for all the advice & info. First off, I did have permission to use the computer. Usually, to get to this site, I would do a web search & then hit the link. From work, I just go to the address bar, which has the msn http, backspace to the m & then hit y. So, I used that method on the other computer, backspaced to "www.", entered m & got an eyeful. (apologies....I am not very "technical" when it comes to computer terms & such). There were alot of addresses, just under the m's. Since they contained the words: cartoons-incest-teenagers-mother-son, etc, I was kind of able to guess what the content was. Once I got over the shock, I went back to www. and hit a, b, c, etc. Based on other addresses, it looked like the same subject matter. However, several of the links did not contain the words cartoon-anime-comic and they're the ones I worry about. Do they contain actual children & such? As a person with a strong hatred of anyone who abuses children, in any way, I'm totally against this type of thing. I just don't want to see any real child be hurt, if I can prevent it.
