And "The Reptile House EP"(1983) which was released five months earlier had been kept off the UK Independant top spot from it too.
As much as I admire their contribution to modern dance music(according to many "Blue Monday" is the most influential 80s single) it really was very boring to see the same song atop the UK Indie chart for so long back then, wasn't it? I hate those marathon songs from the bottom of my heart!Ta!

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

IMO the 7" This Corrosion was better than the 12"
it did what it had to do, it was succinct, in and out in 3 mins, perfect pop!

On the subject of TOL - according to legend the original 83 12" version is the most play song at "Rock City" in Nottingham!

TOL was one of the first Sisters songs I ever heard.. loved it the minute I heard it.. I like the 92 version as well.. not as crappy as the new version of Alice. I wonder if we are going to get a reworked version of Damage Done for the 25th anniversary.. hehe

In the merrion centre, 50p admission, gave you a washer when you walked in, hand it in at the bar and get a free drink...all this at 2.00 in the afternoon....by midnight the entire place was virtually under water...seem to recall a few of the old leeds glitterati hanging out there...step forward Phil of the Rose...always there...not quite!!

the phono! thats the place, not being from leeds is my excuse..used to get up there most weekends though, well, in between going down the Brum Barrel Organ and gods own boozer The Mitre in the heart of Stourbridge.
Recall a similar club about 10 years ago in leeds that was open virtually all day, kind of a door in the middle of a wall, not far from the Duchess...Temple was on pretty heavy rotation there, every 5th song, not that you could tell you were in leeds or anything!

Considering that the sleeve for this song is obviously so popular, is there a story behind the artwork on Sisters releases? The basic format has always stayed the same. Did Andy do the illustrations himself? Nothing ever seems to get credited to anyone.
.... there is no semblance of rock 'n roll around here!

If memory serves me well the majority of artwork was penned by Von, stolen in the most part from varied sources, much of which can be found on this forum in the archives...though i do believe that the TOL sleeve was designed by "an uncredited friend".
I use the phrase correct me if i'm wrong loosley as i know many people will now do just that....
pedantic geeks the lot of us!
can anyone of the above mentioned pedant explain the reasoning for the reversal of the TOL Sunburst on the 92 release? now theres a question for ya's.....

Hehe, the washers! I'd forgotten all about those. Saturday lunctimes used to be good in the Phono. Plenty of Sisters & Nephilim & huge amounts of dry ice. I remember one time they played a super-extended version of Temple Of Love that was longer than any of the official versions. I guess someone remixed it themself.doktor wolf wrote:...gave you a washer when you walked in, hand it in at the bar and get a free drink...all this at 2.00 in the afternoon...
