I had never heard of him, but I think that with Steven Moffat's writing he will be good.
I remember what Russell T Davies said once, words to the effect that you always start off hating the new doctor and then he does something stupid and you fall in love with him.
Doctors stand or fall on their scripts and I think Moffat writes the best.
Only a short wait until we find out - Spring 2010

You didn't waste any time.
Can't make up my mind. Although I was aware of him it was only vaguely and I didn't immediately click who he was. My first reaction was that he looked a bit weird and then that he looked incredibly young (26 going on 15). And then, oddly, that he looked a lot older (forties), which could be a good thing.
He can act and seems to have some versatility so I guess we'll just have to see how it pans out. But David Tennant will be a really tough act to follow considering how definitive he's become.

Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

Not happy- I really wanted Paterson Joseph or Simon Pegg. He looks just too young for the part.
Moffat is a great writer and the best choice for Doctor Who so I'll still watch however.

I like Paterson Joseph but he hasn't got much of an acting range. Certainly not enough for the Doctor. And Simon Pegg's far too lightweight. I don't think either of them would have been right for the part.

HIS HEAD IS TOO SMALL FOR HIS HAIR!
HE'S TWELVE YEARS OLD!

Every time they've announced a new Doctor Who I've thought "Oh no, he'll be terrible". Most times I've been pleasantly surprised - they seem to grow into the role.
True, this guy's very young, but he's only a couple of years younger than Peter Davison was when he took up the role.
He needs a f**king haircut, though.

With good scripts, I think he'll grow into the role.

And since Steven Moffat will be the lead writer when Smith takes over the role, then I think good scripts are guaranteed.Erudite wrote:Pretty much what I just posted on Weebles thread over on Dawnrazor!lazarus corporation wrote:True, this guy's very young, but he's only a couple of years younger than Peter Davison was when he took up the role.

he hav a face like a squished tomatoe
I don't wanna live like I don't mind
The fact that he came out of the audition process and was precisely what Moffatt didn't want (he was determined to find someone older and even asked for most of the young actors to be taken off of the list) makes me cautiously optimistic. He obviously showed them something they hadn't expected and forced them to adjust their thinking.

I think it'll be okay. I mean, at least it's not Sylvester McCoy!

I saw him in the Sally Lockhart mysteries with Billie Piper...
he played a bit of a dofus, but I will wait until I see him as
the Doctor before judging.
I too was hoping for a black Doctor... that would have been wild!
Anyway... long live the Doctor!

I worked with a girl who said she was a 100% vegatarian but I saw her eating a pizza with pepperoni on once.
When I questioned her she said she ate pepperoni but nothing else.
Completely irrelevant to the post I suppose but there we go.
