Belgian assistance please!!!!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

We shall soon be heading over yonder - including a visit the magical Belgium for the first time! We are trying to work out our itinerary and work out where to stay the longest…will be in other Euro :von: locations then the UK -finishing up in Scotland.

Me and Mr ST would dearly like to (wisely) spend a lot of money shopping while we are there. (FYI we have the cultural/historic angle covered!)

Are there any fabulous shopping areas/events/hidden wonders any of you wonderful folk can recommend? ;D
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Go to the build a bear shop in the Buchannan shopping centre in Glasgow.
Make something nice.
Then go to Mc Phabb's & break something.
Or fcuk up their candles.
Call Andrew S first though.
Zeno can advise you on the breaking stuff.

Cheers.

If you're coming through Glasgow, and meeting the HL-Volk of the city, perhaps a few drinks are in order? :)

Antwerp is nice. The place to buy some diamonds and get rid of some cash! ;D

Antwerp is nice indeed, but nothing compared to Ghent. ;D
Spending truckloads of money can't be too big a problem and then a dive in the nightlife there... that's the life 8)

Bruges is for the Japanese  :P

I can agree wholly with Koen's wise words, Ghent is where you want to go! Capsulates the best of the different Belgian cities into one rather splendid city! 8)

Antwerp's excellent too (but then I would say that being Antverpian), Brussels is interesting if you can find the greatness in between the dreary, grey office stuff, Leuven is okay, but you'll have seen it all after spending a night out drinking there I reckon. And ach, give Bruges a go, but don't spend lots of time there, Belgium has so much more to offer!

Glasgow is, of course, a fantastic city too, but I reckon the locals will be advising you on that one, I've only done walking about there twice or so :)

Thank you all for your very welcome assistance!

We are going to Bruge; am I right in thinking it is sort of a Cesky Krumlov sort of vibe? if so hurrah, that is one of my fave places!
Lier is on our radar too as we are planning to head to Antwerp and then on to Amsterdam.
We'd love to have a few bevvies along the way with HL folk... I'll post closer to lift off with locations, etc (bugger, s'pose this means a photo will be in order... )
