i've got an old sisters tape -not sure exactly what gig it is- where elldritch dedicates heartland to "the fine dancing men from wakefield".

first off- what gig is this from? can't check the tape for other clues as i've no tape deck at the minute, but if memory serves it's probably late 83/early 84ish.

secondly: anyone know who said men were?

I'd guess the 'fine dancing men from Wakefield' might be the God Squad.

Just from memory, it might be Wayne's first gig? 7 April 84, Birmingham Tin Can Ballroom

still unsure which gig it is (having found the tape it's labelled "blood on the microphone vol II" but i suspect this is an erroneous title i made up during detention -'s definitely not the tin can gig).

Except that Jez and Danny were from Leeds and Merb was from Wolverhampton...sounds like it might have been mid/late 83, or possibly Tin Can club. I was at the TC gig, but as it was 24+ years ago...

I listened to this gig last night, I got it from the Sharing section, labelled London 83. I had a look at Lachert's site, and it seems to match up with the setlist at the Lyceum supporting (supported by?) The Gun Club on 24th April. http://www.geocities.com/lachert108/gigs/1983.html

coincidentally, i also found out which gig it was last night, and it is indeed lyceum feb 83! only i found it by mopping up the last of the unburnt mp3s (etc) from jenzi-benzi's data dvds. the casette recording/generation i've got is better though somehow.
