Dead or alive - Peter Burns in hospital..

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

The title "Peter Burns in Hospital" could also indicate something different... :D. I'm sorry, but his name invites to such things.

He can't be THAT ill if he can release a coherent statement. Mind you, I'm half expecting Jade Goody to make a miraculous recovery.

He can be that ill - my sister was misdiagnosed as having the flu when she was actually having gall bladder failure; when she went to the EM because she wasn't getting any better, they wouldn't allow her to leave the hospital and performed surgery the next day because she could have dropped dead from it at any moment.

Granted, your chances are infinitely better if you're already in hospital. But they also won't admit you unless you're at the point where you require hospitalisation. Renal failure - which can be caused by kidney stones - will certainly kill you, and yes, you're likely to be...well, as lucid as the pain killers allow you to be. You'll be needing those, because you'll be in excruciating pain.

So none of this is cause for humour.

Now we have the weeks of Max Clifford glossing over a rather unpleasant young woman's memory. I didn't wish her illness or death, but I resent being expected to care about her more than any other cancer sufferer. :|

I totally agree.

As Jimmy Carr remarked on the death of Diana:
Nobody gave a shit when my nan died.
While I feel a certain sympathy for her family, particularly her children, the woman made a career out of being a professional gobshite. Maybe that reflects more on society than on her. After all, she only took the chances on offer...
But I'm with you - I won't miss her taking up air time or column inches.

The only positive thing to come out of the whole ghastly circus is that a few more women, particularly young women, may now go for a smear test. Something that might one day save their life.

I agree with DeWinter -Erudite -BrideofFrankenstein viewpoints.
News here in Italy are talking about her as well :| (I think, personally, that is quite grotesque: she was a total Miss Unknown here until a few months ago and now they're giving her so much 'space' in the columns... oh well, this world never fails to amuse me... :| )

I thought it was Eddie Izzard. :? Maybe he stole the gag.

And I agree - she was an oxygen thief before she got ill and still one after. I have every sympathy for her family but would hope that some of the millions she has made from OK/Hello will go towards other peoples suffering.

Given that Max Clifford was her publicist, I wouldn't have put it past him to fake the cancer.

Seems I was too cynical. For once.

All the best comedy/satire is.

It's also proof that the "cult of personality" quickly triumphs over reality.

b) Had (at least) one too many collagen injections
