whilst i'm uk so not affected, its a shame for everyone elseAs soon as we’ve completed the upgrades noted above, we’ll move ahead with the transition. Thereafter, radio in the USA, UK and Germany will remain ad-supported, and radio in other countries where it’s not feasible to have an ad-supported service will be moving to a subscription service.

Said goodbye to last.fm a long time ago, couldn't live with their updated interface... Shame about the fees though but guess it's only rational.
Who ever asked for rationality when it comes to music!

only really use it for the scrobbling and for the events
the radio is kinda useful if you have scrobbled enough to give it a good idea what you want to hear, but i've yet to find a time when i use the radio in preference to, say, my ipod or spotify
as a database of music though its pretty good, and the online player can be handy for when you want to hear what a specific track is like...
just glad that the core uk last.fm services are staying free, and that we have spotify (and my ipod )

Last.fm is the way I discovered a LOT of new bands in genres I like, not something I see happening om my MP3 player.
I might pay for this, after all...
