The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

The trailer reminded me of 'The Avengers' (worrying) so I was gonna give it a miss - but I'll take Paddy's recomendation and give it a go.

Honestly, I've heard the film is such a b*stardisation of the comic that I'm boycotting. But don't worry BD...I'd do Sean in a heartbeat too.

Yeah. when are we gonna get a comic book adaptation that actually STICKS to the story in the comic?

It doesn't make sence - a kick-ass comic comes out, everyone loves it, then when the hollywood goons turn it into a film, they discard the story, and just keep the characters (!!?)

Sorry to disagree with Paddy here but I have rarely seen a worse film. I found the lack of any cohesion in the plot, the poor acting and the atrocious direction quite insulting to my intelligence. I had held out some hope that the directors might have honoured some of the interesting and novel points of the original (Nemo's general hatred of the English, Hyde's total amorality, Quartermain's opium addicted ruin, the fact that for once and only a WOMAN leads the group) and demonstrated that Hollywood could move away from the hackneyed cliches which have sadly dominated a fantastic medium and turned it into a factory of mindless cloned plots and pop references for a bland and regressive culture.

But they didn't.

My only plea to those of you who hated it as well but haven't had the benefit of reading the graphic novel which it is very loosely associated with (except for the name) is that you don't imagine FOR ONE f**king SECOND that the exceptionally talented Alan Moore wrote more than about ten words of what appeared on the screen.

If you haven't seen it yet, please listen: spend the extra ten quid or so and read the book. You won't be disappointed, which I definitely cannot say for the film.
Very little of what you believe to be true is actually the case.

Sorry.
