We forgive as we forget, as the day is long???
Had that already, I think ...
(perhaps only because I cannot forget and I do not wish to ).
However, without forgiving things get ever harder.
And the most difficult thing is to forgive oneself.
I think it's rather: we forget as we forgive. (And change).
And we should remind that, since the day is, indeed, long ...
Nevertheless, I love this song ... as we walk over the bridge, as we walk on the floodland ... we forget ...

(Prepare to shoot me down for this view...)
The only track I don't like is Giving Ground.
Love it live but on the record I think it sounds pretty terrible.

i know what you mean- it can feel like a bit of a plodder on record sometimes...
my least favourite is finland red... - there's some very nice 80s street hawk synths but it all feels a bit throwaway for me.

The drum patterns and synths on "Colours" and "Rain From Heaven" are brilliant, great doomy songs. Bass on "Giving Ground" is nice and wobbly. Although I think I slightly prefer the Floodland version of "Colours" for the Eldritch whisper.

the best version of giving ground is the 7" vocal version.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

maybe a stupid question about Gift.
Heard some rumours about some demo recordings from that time. Only thing i managed to get was the TC demo.
Do other demos exist?

i know this is probably old news (and i'm just embarrassing myself again) but i've just read The Three Stigmata of Of Palmer Eldritch by Phillip K Dick and there's a bit in it where he's on about a gift for someone and then goes on to speculate that Gift means Poison in German... Eldritch? Gift? German? hmmmm...

The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.
