The long term 404 answers your question.

The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside.

I don't think so, no. I think it's another example of an indirect answer. An arbitrary and opaque move really. A direct answer would come in the form of stating yes or no. Maybe is not direct, brutally honest or blunt. An old fake 404 error page that used to give directions to a secret gig location is not a direct answer. Unless one wishes to try to extract some further hidden meaning that probably doesn't exist or is only meant for an elite inner circle. In which case that would be another example of being glaringly indirect. So no, that's not a direct answer to the question of whether he wants to release anything. Seems more like a sarcastic response to people complaining that the record news hasn't been updated, because in a sense, now it has been. Lmao.sultan2075 wrote:The long term 404 answers your question.
They say a watched pot never comes to a boil. So I'll take a Sisters vacation for a while. Maybe one day I'll just get a google alert that there's news of a new record. Obviously he doesn't want to communicate with his fans any more.
At least not in any clear manner like he did when UTR was in print.
See you folks later.

No need to take it so seriously, Prescott.
We all know the chances of Andrew ever releasing another album are somewhere near zero ... so just take whatever you want from what's available and forget about the rest.
Anyway, whether or not Andrew wants to release something is almost an irrelevant question - if he announced a new album for the end of the year, would any of us really believe it? In the words of Chairman Bux, "only a fool makes the same mistake twice." Somehow, though, I think twice hardly covers it in this case.

In the 'interview' Eldritch mentions the re-releases and said that one of the bonus tracks was a "fake", put together from various master tapes. I assume he's either referring to the early version of Some Kind Of Stranger, or the full length version of Never Land. Any idea which one is more likely?

Probably Never Land, since a) he always insisted that there was not another version anyway and b) SKOS has some laughably bad performances, and strikes me as a straight-up demo.robertzombie wrote:In the 'interview' Eldritch mentions the re-releases and said that one of the bonus tracks was a "fake", put together from various master tapes. Yup, it's likely Never Land he's on about.sultan2075 wrote:Probably Never Land, since a) he always insisted that there was not another version anywayrobertzombie wrote:In the 'interview' Eldritch mentions the re-releases and said that one of the bonus tracks was a "fake"
"There is no other version of 'Never Land' (apart from demo versions and "full" versions edited together by bootleg merchants). It's called 'Never Land (a fragment)' to reflect the way the song sounds: overheard and fondly detached. It's really not got so much to do with the (literal) fragmentation and moral issues of Goethe's Faust ...honest." Sissies FAQ

I was never sure if I bought that or not...he obviously wrote and sang the lyrics not on the "fragment" version, and provided the explanation quoted in the reissue sleevenotes, so at one point at least during the song's gestation it was another version of "Never Land".copper wrote:

In other news, that SKOS version is indeed awful. I've never sat down and worked out if the timings fit, but I always thought it would have been much preferable if the reissue had dropped that and Long Train and given us the four tracks from the Body & Soul EP instead

... there is still a Father Christmas, yeah?

Listening to the full version now, and it's clear that that's utter bollocks, isn't it? There's no way that the full song is comped together by bootleggers--leaving aside the fact that it's quite evidently a complete mix, such a "full" version would have surfaced before now."There is no other version of 'Never Land' (apart from demo versions and "full" versions edited together by bootleg merchants). Now, to be gracious, I suppose that it could be argued that the full version was merely a 'demo version'; okay, I can buy that. I think there's something rather grand about the original 'fragment' that's a little lost in the full one, but that might just be a matter of having listened to 'fragment' a lot more...[/quote]

wrong. it's SKOS. I remember writing at the time that, previously (to the reissue), I only had a instrumental demo. So it's the instrumental demo with some other 'out-take' tagged on.copper wrote:Yup, it's likely Never Land he's on about.sultan2075 wrote:Probably Never Land, since a) he always insisted that there was not another version anywayrobertzombie wrote:In the 'interview' Eldritch mentions the re-releases and said that one of the bonus tracks was a "fake"

there are allsorts of Never land bits, it's just you, and probably I, haven't heard them.
A fragment - coz that's what the poets did - innit
Goths have feelings too
But Gary did say he was surprised that the SKOS demo had never been leaked.paint it black wrote:wrong. it's SKOS. That info makes me think it's legit
I would like to mention that if somebody is a little bit embarrassed about something he did, especially in his crazy youth, this somebody is quite likely to call it a "fake".
But surely it's not the case with Eldritch and the bonus tracks, because all of the bonus tracks sound lovely, especially SKOS.

Nice read, that. However I wasn't too impressed at the list of apparent soundalikes on the last page...not only are all of them complete bollocks, "gothic metal" is about the stupidest concept for a genre I've ever heard, whenever the two mix the consequences are always disastrous because nobody ever gets it right.
Probably an editor rather than the journalist in question (who Von seemed to have no troubles with) to blame for that one.AdrenaChris wrote:Nice read, that. If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
