Sat here as I am suffering from a pollen/flu induced malady and failing to write anything of interest on gentrification and urban regeneration (hints welcome!) I got to thinking that the recorded Sisters songs have aged really well (with the possible exception of Anaconda and that's due to the dodgy production) if you compare it to some of (in theory) competitors such as the Nephilim and imitators such as Rosetta Stone. To be fair a few m*****n songs stand (mainly the singles) the test of time, but I think it's the sign of a great band that almost their entire ouvre sounds as fresh now as it did when released. Sorry if this has already been covered!

Used to enjoy the Neph's live rather than on record, remember in particular a great gig in Huddersfield. Do occasionally watch the live videos though prefer the stuff before Elyzium... ;D Wow never realised the site blanks out the m*****n's name automatically before. Thought people did it themselves.... :eek:

Well, I'm not a card-carrying Rosetta fan, but I don't think they've aged too badly at all.

Of course, I'm obliged to say that due to the racket I'm involved in. :innocent:

Funny enough, I find that the earlier singles and EPs hold up better these days than some of the later stuff. This Corrosion in particular has aged really badly, and sounds more like a New Order remix B-side circa DubVulture/ShellCock than anything else these days.

Gift on the other hand is utterly timeless, sleek and minimal and groovy.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I think some Sisters stuff has aged really and feel some of Rosetta Stone's output still sounds great, listening to stuff like the Dead Kennedys reminds me that a lot of music ages badly due to poor production.

For me to choose who I prefer between Rosetta or The Sisters would be like choosing between a lover and a brother.

I've always thought that Rosetta were never the rip off artists that their detractors had them down as. They wore their influences on their sleeve but what they did with them was well and truely their own - In my view they invented what was to become the sound of Goff Rawk as it would go onto be, maybe more so than the Sisters, Mish or Nephs (all three of whom I adore) ever did individually.
Nationalise the f**king lot.

Can't say I heard any Fairlight at all on Floodland ?

There was a lot of use of samplers, but I would have said Akai's and possibly Emulator II's rather than Fairlights. I think there were a few Roland synths used as well.
