And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. I've been without music for four weeks.
Just found some time to sit down clicked on random... Nine While Nine... screams out the speakers.

Suddenly all is well with the world again.

Isn't it fantastic when a song that you've listened to for 24 years still moves you.

ok, maybe I handed you the wrong end of the stick...

my comment was more about the way a song can still stir up emotions after such a long time.

I saw New Order at Coachella a few years back and they played a few JD songs... LWTUA must be one of the saddest songs ever, but when that bass line kicks in, it always gets my pulse racing...

every time i hear emma it moves me. a cover that is definately better than the original. floorshow still does it for me too.
anarchy in the uk still sounds as fresh as.
are friends electric.
some velvet morning.
to name a couple more.
there are very few, if any, new songs around that actually do anything for me, other than want to turn them off. i wonder what songs of recent times will stand up to this sort of scrutiny in years to come?

oh, strict machine makes me tingle too.
i am more likely to release an album before the sisters

The new songs could be as powerful if they were worked out, accordingly.
In my opinion. They didn't do that when these songs were "new".
And time does something even to the things neglected.
But then again, even times are in a steady change ... now it's 2009.
Next year it's 2010 and the year after will be 2011. And after that ...

Most importantly - a) now is now and b) songs like Nine While Nine are timeless and far more timeless than Dominion.

That is fantastic! Nine While Nine is my ringtone (I just woke up that way one day), so I get that feeling, ooh, twice a week!

They first started to play a few JD tunes at the end of their set back at a major gig at the "Manchester Arena" ("Nynex/MEN" whatever :roll: ) mid 1990's. They sounded great when I saw them at the Glasgow gig 3 years ago (which was released on DVD). They even did a few treacks on a Jools Holland appearance back in the day. Since Barney and Hooky fell out and he left to form Freebass with Mani and Andy Rourke; Barney and Steve (and Gillian's replacement) got Alex James in from Blur.

There's effing loads on youtube, including the aforementioned ...Later performance.

Well they did split up before in the 1990's, when Barney and Johnny Marr did Electronic, Gillian and Steve became the Other Two and Hooky formed Mrs Merton's House Band and Monaco :wink:

ninw while nine & driven like snow are a magnificent double play... I remember being disappointed when VT came out & the same theme wasn't continued into a trilogy!

Incidentally, saw New Order a few times on there last run around the block & was always disappointed when they played JD songs... Possible blasphamey to some but - to me - NO were always the better band... Couldn't JD ever like, lighten up a bit?!
