cheap hotels/hostels in manchester?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

a friend is visiting manchester in a couple of weeks to see the bushart/john lever/mark burgess/chameleons gig on 19th september, and was asking me about cheap accommodation for his visit

obviously, living there myself i have never actually stayed in a hotel there!

(and before you ask, we can't put him up as we already have a dozen or so people staying at ours :lol:)

so i was wondering, have any of you lot got any places in manc you'd recommend? :idea:

i guess this is more directed at the travelling contingency who might have come here to see the sisters on previous tours :)

Staying at Sachas tonight in middle of Piccadilly. They've a £28 a night per room offer on this month & next !!!!

Will report back if any good tomorrow ;)

And before you ask...the Offspring at Man Academy !

How cheap is cheap?

I stayed at the Days Inn last time, which was about 60 quid - a whole ton cheaper than anywhere else I looked at that wasn't a flea-infested student dive, and pretty decent too.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

If your friends don't mind flowery wallpaper, china ducks, Elvis memorabilia etc. you chould check out the Verdene in Rusholme. Good old-fashioned hospitality from Mr & Mrs Gallagher (who played football with Right Said Fred in the park across the road when they stayed at the hotel many moons ago).

They're doing York Fibbers which I don't think is sold out - I have no idea when though - I is rubbish. And they are supporting Magazine somwhere along the line and I have a feeling there might just be one or two other things in the pipeline.

I think all details may be on Facebook or MySpace under what I haven't the foggiest. I'm a bit useless ain't I? I only secured a ticket the other week and that was rather touch and go. :lol:

Right.... Sachas -

Pros -
£28 for room for night.Very clean. Room fine for money, TV, tea/coffee/biscuits/hairdryer, en suite. In middle of town. Bar open late.
Cons -
Had a softer bed. Parking in NCP next to hotel £17 overnight. Not much hot water at 6am !

Can't complain for price. As good as Jury's/Holiday Inns that I've previously stopped at in MCR for twice the price.
