New user saying Hello

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Big Si.... OK I'll give the "initiation" a go ;)

1. With the short died black hair and the white suit, I really liked the beard, (thinking back to the appearance on ToTP and the video for Dominion.

I prefer the clean shaven look on the whole though - especially with the long hair, died blond, or more recent no hair on Andrew. I'd imagine a beard with any of those looks would look daft on him, but Andrew looks great with the Dominion video "Man from Delmonte" type look.

2. I'll ignore the EP collection - Some Girls Wander By Mistake, or the unoffical releases as they cover too long a time period to be classed as albums.

It's a touch choice as I love Floodland, but out of the three main releases I'd have to say "First and Last And Always" is my favourite album primarily because it grabs and doesn't let go. Whereas Floodland was more varied and progressive, (and had the lovely Patricia), FaLaA locks you in for the duration and is perhaps more autobiographical or rather from the heart, (despite 1959 on Floodland). There's not a bad song on the album, (not that there was on Floodland either). Plus, songs like the title track is always one of the songs I want to hear when I see them live, (although I love the recent version of Lucretia they've been playing too).

I don't know if it was because it was the FaLaA album and the prior EP's that originally got me into the Sisters so it always has a special place, or just the fact it's a crackingly good album, but there you go.

I do like the third album, but that doesn't come close to the first two for me despite some great songs, and definitely at least one song that would make my shortlist for a favourite in "Ribbons".

3. Gary Marx. Plus I loved Ghostdance...ALTHOUGH...
I feel like apologising, but I did like Jerry/Wayne's m*****n although gave up after the Carved in Sand (fourth I think) album. The first four albums still occasionally get dusted off for a listen - God's Own Medicine was my favourite, although their version of "Like a Hurricane" on the first album is still stunning to me, (I prefer it to the original Neil Young version.)

4. Straight over my head I'm afraid..!

As far as I'm concerned you have passed with an A+ so just enjoy the forum and if you like "You Could Be The One" you will be placed in an appreciation society, although there is no aprreciation society as we do not talk about it but those in it know about it.

Ah, got you now about "You Could Be One"! I never brought that with me when I moved to the USA as the More single I bought was the CD version, but in a ridiculously large gatefold Vinyl type sleeve so it got stuffed in with all my old vinyl that I stored at my mums in Headingley. :)

I haven't heard that song in years, but remember I did in fact like it apart from the chorus - the "Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey..." bit was a bit cringeworthy I recall! :)

(I went to Lawnswood by the way. The proper Lawnswood before it got knocked down and replaced with a flat pack building.)
