having recently downloaded a vast amount of old John Peel shows from here: http://fadesinslowly.com/ I got to wondering if Peel ever did play The Damage Done.
It always says "the band swear he played it twice", but to my knowledge no recordings of Peel introducing the record and reading out contact details as was his way have ever surfaced. Just curious...
this site is hard for me to navigate. i can't find anything if you found some sisters recordings with peel introductions, not necessarily damage done, please post direct links to it

To be honest I've not used the site since he moved addresses - I downloaded everything off a standard Blog page a few weeks back and have steadily been working my way through since.
No Sisters plays so far, though I did hear the Festive Fifty where "Serpents Kiss" creeps in about number 49 (1986?). Peel did say it was a record he'd not played once during the year until that point
Anyways, sure I'll post up the links to any shows that feature TSOM, but I downloaded about 150 hours worth, so bear with me - could be a while before I find any
once i downloaded nice few gigabytes of peel's broadcast from some p2p or torrent, and indeed there was few sisters numbers in it, as alice, emma, nttc and more (mostly studio tracks) but no one has peel's introduction so i was a little bit disappointed
Don't get me started ... he's the only DJ I can ever listen to. I'd prefer it if all the Peel session albums that came out had his intro & outro.

Nope! that was Temple of Love and the year's meringue, should be 83 maybe 84. I recall Peel saying something along the lines of "And now a song that's never been played on this show, well as far as I can remember". I was lying in my bath listening to it and apart from Emma was the only thing I'd heard by this Sisters combo.

yeah, temple of love was alsow in that pile of tracks i downloaded one day. it was common studio version without peel so i deleted it
Mothra, i'm not 100% sure but stereolab released their peel sessions with peel's introduction as i remember. you can check it out

Looks like I got that one to come . Presumably the 1983 Festive Fifty?? He says it about The Mish as well http://fadesinslowly.blogspot.com/2008/ ... -1986.html. Maybe he should have taken more notice of the voting, as some of the artists he championed back then ... not exactly to my taste

Agreed. I've just finished The Olivetti Chronicles, which was a good read (though not as good as Margrave...)
there's this version around where Peel introduces Body Electric... he's said something about 'the electric body' IIRC. Isn't that one on the History of the Sisters bootleg LP? I shall verify later
James, what does Word mag have to say about Kat's Karavan? In this month's Uncut they see it as a rather narrowminded collection, with the focus mainly on the indie/alternative guitarbands and not much of the other stuff he used to play... Great music, but not really reflecting the whole Peel spectrum.
Emma made top 10 (8 i think) in 1984 and it's a studio version
yep, i tracked down all sister sessions with intro/ outro, march violets and sisters combined. also the two plays of the jenson session with intro/ outro and incidentals

And back again... with The Incredible History of The Sisters vol.1 on the turntable and yep, there's him introducing BE with the words:

The entire 84 Festive Fifty available for download there, complete with JP introductions and wry remarks. Emma shows up in part 4 (at number 15 I think). Plenty of Cocteau Twins and Smiths before them in the chart. I've not got to the top 10 yet, so no idea if there are more entries from the Sisters.
I've found two shows broadcast in 1980 (not listened to them yet), so guess there's an outside chance (50-1?) that one of them will contain the original broadcast(s) of The Damage Done.
