Now I only log on WV every now & then these days but I'm pretty sure that this has happened over the last couple of days (had a quick look for other threads on here but found nothing)
http://forums.thechameleons.com/
I feel a little nostalic for the old place all of a sudden, despite it having more tumbleweeds than new threads in the last couple of years. WV was the first forum that I ever joined (back in 2001) & I was terrified that it would be full of uber anoracks that would know all the japanese release catalogue numbers off by heart & would sneer at lightweight fans that hadn't memorised such information.
Instead, I found that it was full of great people & I went on to meet quite a few of themover the following couple years.
RIP Wishville......then again The Chameleons returned after a few years!

aye, happened a couple of days ago, from what i understand.
from what i gather it was all very political.
as with everything chams related, it sounded very messy with 12 sides to every story, but essentially mark asked mik to pull it as he and his new girlfriend were getting a lot of personal flak on it. there's a lot more to it, i'm sure, but that's the official line.
bunch of eejits, every one of them
poor mik
have a look at this - it outlines most of the key points of the whole debacle, albeit from only one side of the coin

The key question is what is Bracknall Pete doing to fill up his days now?

Poor me indeedy...I need my own disclaimer that anything coming from Gaz's fingers or mouth has NOTHING to do with me....bloody tit
If Mark does sue Gaz, my own little empire best not be involved. Gaz doesn't co-habit...he just habits.
Twas a sad day when the plug was pulled, but I said to Mik...'Currently in Manc, when I heard the news that you've shut Wishville down...very sad however, the reason I AM in Manc is because of the friends I've made through WV....' editted due to mushy stuff
Saying that not ALL my bezzie mates were there though on Sat. No, one got wet and wanted a bath and snuggle up to get warm again ... At least his wife had a slightly better excuse
All good things must come to an end but the legacy lives on. If it weren't for Wishville this place might never have existed.

Indeed, my invite to this place came via a Quiffy PM, over on WV.Debaser wrote: All good things must come to an end but the legacy lives on. If it weren't for Wishville this place might never have existed.

@ weebs: it's a very good point, and one that illustrates quite clearly why:
1) it's a good thing that HL is run independently of the band
and
2) it's best when your heroes remain at a distance
for me, wishville has always had a problem in that the band members used to use the forum regularly.
and when your band is as volatile as the chameleons, that was only ever going to end in tears one way or another. the mud-slinging was bad enough when they split around the time of the athens gig, but the in-fighting that ensued never really abated and drew fans into it, causing rifts and drawing metaphorical lines in the sand between one-time friends.
it's decent into madness was sad indeed, and that it has now been turned off is a real shame.
wishville was my first exposure to a fan community for any band. i made several very good friends via the site, and it served as a model for heartland when i began this place.
and the whole scene that wishville created around the chameleons was how i met back up with the woman that is now my wife
r.i.p. wishville.
