Giving Vision Thing a chance
Thought you'd say that and they're fair points but:BeyondThePale wrote: It's not very known, but John Perry (former The Only Ones) did bottleneck slide guitar (for example on "Detonation Boulevard") and some solos.
The credits only mention "guitars" without these precisions.stufarq wrote:Well enough known to be in the credits.
And they also mention Tim Bricheno and Andrew for the same instrument.
1) Not the point. Eldritch maintains that she doesn't play but he still put her on the sleeve so why wouldn't he do the same with Bricheno? It's not about whether Patricia played but the fact that Eldo would do something like that.BeyondThePale wrote: Of course Andreas Bruhn played on all tracks.
I don't think that Tim Bricheno would have been on the album sleeve if he had not played a single note on it...
I knew that a smart guy would say that, because it's so easy.stufarq wrote:Can I be the first to say "Patricia"?
But:
1) No one can prove that Patricia Morrisson didn't play on Floodland.
2) On the Floodland's sleeve it's not really a band, the purpose is more "aesthetic". Whereas on the Vision Thing's sleeve it's a band. So why figuring a guy who's not part of the band?
2) The VT sleeve could just as easily be an "aesthetic". The album's made, Tim joins and will be appearing on TV and live so he gets his face on the cover just like Patsy did. This time Von's decided to name and shame so it'll look a bit odd if Tim's not mentioned. He does what loads of bands do and says what Tim does in the band, not necessarily what he did on the record.

Hihi, yeah! and Dr. Jeep ... ... ...lachert wrote:just take your dirty hands off vision thing!

... utmost resistance perfectly arranged ... ...
And Ribbons ... I'm laying on my back now ...
... great lyrics ...
and Something Fast ... and ...
More - uah, nobody else could ever have done that in this concentration and precision ...
- though IMHO, the video is fine, surely, but somewhat missing the point ... however,
looking at it makes you know why or to what purpose and given the circumstances,
I can clearly imagine various other, very understandable reasons to do it the way it is ...
and of course - I was wrong ...
I don't want to go on about all the songs on VT, all of them are quite a liberation from certain
aspects of FALAA and Floodland ... without giving up but rather re-iterating the essence of either
with other means and within a different environment ...
Vision Thing is a great album! I love it and in a way, it's all tender sweetness to me ...

I loved it from day one, but then again I was into Whitesnake around that time (hey, my girlfriend at the time was obsessed with hair metal!)Badlander wrote:Anecdotes ? Well, most if not all Sisters fans hated it when they first heard it back in 1990. Some loved it in the end. That's a natural process.

I thought it was: Sisters fans didn't want Roxette and Roxette fans didn't want the Sistersmh wrote:Well in fairness, almost everyone was expecting Floodland part II. Even More sounded similar in style, with continuity in the Steinman factor, but just with louder guitars in parts. YCBTO was a B side, so no way would anyone expect that it would signify a change of direction.
VT probably failed commercially cos Sisters fans didn't want rawk, and rawk fans didn't want the Sisters.

quite how anyone can knock VT, after knowing that The Sisters love The Stooges and Motorhead, baffles me. VT is, to me, their most realised album in itself, and the start of The Sisters rebirth as road filth.
