one for the 2000AD fans...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Judge Minty

Image

The film will be based on Judge Minty, a character created by John Wagner and Mick McMahon. An aging Judge who is forced to 'retire' from the streets, mainly it seems because he has become too compassionate.

He chooses to take 'The Long Walk' into the Cursed Earth, there "to take law to the lawless". The film will be based around his first experiences in the radioactive wastes.

the film it includes a cameo by a young joe dredd 8)

Image
Renowned Artist and Judge Dredd favourite, Greg Staples has kindly offered to play the part of the man himself in our film. Although Dredd will only be making a small cameo and will only be shown in shadow, blurred or extreme close up, we are lucky that Greg has the correct look for a young Joe. It's also a nice touch for fellow fans.

Greg also managed to call by when we were blocking the a scene at a Sheffield location. We also had time for a quick costume check, see picture above.

I heard about it a while ago; I've been dicking about with Blender again, and started on a Ro-Jaws model (this is about as far as I got) but stumbled across some people doing (far better versions of) the same thing on the 2000AD forums. Got linked to Judge Minty from there.

I actually remember the Minty storyline from ago in the comic. IIRC Minty was Dredd's trainer/mentor when he (Dredd) was a Judge Cadet.

I remember Minty from first time round.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Can only be an improvement on that godawful effort with Stallone.

Although when I saw that it was called Judge Minty, for a moment I thought it was a mash-up between 2000AD and Terry Pratchett's "Guards Guards" (you'll recall that young Carrot Ironfoudersson carried a torch for Minty Rocksmacker).

Hey, a guy can dream, right?

"that godawful effort with Stallone" nearly put 2000AD out of business FWIW.

It's also mentioned on the "slightly less boring FAQ":
SLBFAQ wrote:The Sisters have tried a couple of times to get pre-existing songs onto the soundtrack of a film, and were afterwards glad that they didn't achieve it, as the films were not as good as hoped: 'Things To In Denver When You're Dead' (great script, great cast, but unfortunately lacklustre direction) and 'Judge Dredd' (great comic, Joan Chen, but unfortunately an all-round bad film).
I like the idea of a Dredd/Vimes mash-up though

Films that should have had a Sisters song on the soundtrack:
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas
Hard Candy
You Kill Me

I can see that working - although who in 2000AD do you see as the counterpart to Lady Sybil? Can't be Judge Hershey, we've got her down for Angua.

I think that was actually Judge Morph - who, when Dredd came to him with similar doubts about maybe being too harsh advised him to start wearing a pair of boots a size too small in order to distract him from thinking!

BTW the current Dredd storyline "Tour Of Duty" is fantastic.
Dredd has affectively been exiled to the Cursed Earth to take charge of a series of Mutie townships being built to house mutants forced to leave Mega City One after Dredd's decision to allow them to live there is overturned.
Yup - "Old Stony Face" has definitely mellowed over the years!
