Rise Of The Machines

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

The first part of your post I choose to ignore as that is my choice as is so what if he is, that's his business and with all due respect of that moment of your emotional thought, I still have no comment.

Yeah Adam I saw him live once! All these utterly glorious eras are to be heard and found on here as most of us have them on vinyl!

Now calm the emotions and boys stop throwing with blades and war...

Seems like someone has to do this every couple months for the last 20 years. No replacement has ever been good enough when it happened. I would venture to say that as far as pure playing talent goes Ben is near the top (not just cuz hes my mate either) As far as Chris being soft, I give him 3 to 1 odds against most people in a dark alley:)

I am really trying to avoid the difference between "old" and "new" era, "old" and "new" songs ...

Only difference is that most of the songs I like and some of them could be better nevermind "new" and "old".

Anyway, what is a "new" song in Sisters language Arms ? Far parade ? * he coughs* Anything that was not on an album * he chokes in laughter*

Same goes for guitar players. I like how the songs sound through Ben and Chris and that is it.

New <= 16 years old?

Me too.

Daleks were trialled as replacements but were found to be no good at playing the "complicated" chords, they're worse at going up and down stairs than Chris is and they tend to snap whenever Nurse goes near them. I think they are threatened by his beard. I also suspect one of them was a secret Cult of Skaro sympathiser.

So Ben and Chris it is.

thats fine, as they have done some great stuff already. just HAVE them doing more of it.
beside that i often got the impression that the man behind the mixing desk wanted to have the sisters sound dull and harmless, hiding the guitars. is this true, chairman? or only a rumour?
love is just a shot away

Not looking forward to the Christmas Special then, Magister?

I never watch TV over Christmas. There really is no need as all the American Christmas specials are shown in June the following year, and the British ones are rarely worth watching at all.

Clam down, sir. It's going to be okay. Just because we differ on opinions, it's no reason to get your underwear in a knot.

I happen to think Chris and Ben wank their pseudo-metal riffs all over some great tunes, thus ruining them in the process. I much preferred the Adam/Mike/Chris days of streamlined modern rock.

You know, there's a large portion of U2 fans who see no drop-off in the quality of their material over the last 10 years, too. They just continue to tow the line, passionately arguing that a song like "I'll go crazy if I don't go crazy tonight" ranks up there with their best stuff.

Or Bryan Adams fans who think that... well, okay, no one thinks Bryan Adams is good anymore.

I happen to see Bryan Adams at a concert (sponsored by my wife's work). Have to admit, he still has his charms, although I don't like the songs.

I'm not too fond of Catalyst/Christo either, but as long as I'm having a good time at gigs, I'm happy.

No worries. We all like the Sisters (ie :von:) here. It's funny to me how some people on here look at Vision Thing the same way they look at the mess the dog made on the carpet. Others might have the same feeling about FLAA. I just wish, along with the lot of you, that we were arguing over albums #4, 5, 6...

Adam Pearson will forever be my favourite guitarist. I love the current incarnation (Chris is great) but Adam's the man. :von:
