It's bad enough we let them vote, but they want to be allowed to moderate too? It's political correctness gone mad, I tell you...

Gender bollocks, more like - it's not bad enough that some dozy twit from the Liberal Democrats is whining about people using airbrushes on pictures in advertisements (this dozy twit happens to be the shadow spokesperson on Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs - and people wonder why the LibDems, despite having some eminently sensible policies, have never made it into government).
Stick 'em in a hat, with a parasol, and let them swan about at garden parties discussing kittens or whatever. But FFS don't give them anything more taxing than that - can you imagine the mess they'd get us into?!
To quote Henry Enfield: "Women! Know your limits!"
She doesn't cite any of these experts, nor explain exactly how the use of art supplies causes problems in women (perhaps it's the phallic shape of the thing, I don't know. She didn't respond to my email yet).Jo Swinton wrote:Experts have already proved that airbrushing contributes to a host of problems in women and young girls such as depression and eating disorders.

we appoint mods when we feel an extra mod is necessary
potential mods are chosen on several criteria
1) level headed & fairness - quelling arguments, impartiality etc
2) peer respect - do other HLers take them seriously? will others listen to them when they have their mod hats on?
3) technical competence - are they able to perform the admin tasks adequately? locking/deleting threads, banning users etc
4) time zones - it's always handy to have mods in other timezones (especially the ones further away from GTM) so they can look after the place when we are all asleep
if we (me & the current mods) see a need for another mod, and we can think of someone that meets those criteria, we will discuss it and then invite them to join the team
mods are not chosen based on gender, and i do not feel the need to appoint a female mod purely for the sake of it. that would be tokenism and positive discrimination. and a bit silly really
and truth be told, i don't feel the need to appoint any more mods at present. the current team (:notworthy:) have matters in hand, and the place has become fairly self-moderating anyway over the years
so whilst all your suggestions have been noted, i'll be honest and say they are unlikely to be actioned any time soon...
that is all.

Yeah, and violence against women, of course ... goes just like anything.
Gender War instead of Gender Mainstreaming ... ...

Are you suggesting Heartland lacks a feminine touch?
If you can find a mentally stable female Heartlander, then maybe we'd consider it.
Good luck with the search.
