Female MOD!

For you to give feedback to the Heartland moderators. Wish lists, fault reports, etc. You may get an answer, you may not. As in all things, it largely depends on how nicely you ask the people in charge... You're welcome.

Quiff Boy wrote:we appoint mods when we feel an extra mod is necessary

potential mods are chosen on several criteria

1) level headed & fairness - quelling arguments, impartiality etc

2) peer respect - do other HLers take them seriously? will others listen to them when they have their mod hats on?

3) technical competence - are they able to perform the admin tasks adequately? locking/deleting threads, banning users etc

4) time zones - it's always handy to have mods in other timezones (especially the ones further away from GTM) so they can look after the place when we are all asleep :D

if we (me & the current mods) see a need for another mod, and we can think of someone that meets those criteria, we will discuss it and then invite them to join the team

mods are not chosen based on gender, and i do not feel the need to appoint a female mod purely for the sake of it. that would be tokenism and positive discrimination. and a bit silly really ;)

and truth be told, i don't feel the need to appoint any more mods at present. the current team (:notworthy:) have matters in hand, and the place has become fairly self-moderating anyway over the years :D

so whilst all your suggestions have been noted, i'll be honest and say they are unlikely to be actioned any time soon...

that is all.

:D
Hmmm....I hoped I had a chance as the only non-goth mod in these parts! :innocent: :P

Honestly, I don't see much reason for a further mod only for the sake of
gender mainstreaming ... but in general, I find this gender idiocy a nice topic for discussion ...

Blood, blood, always bloody revolutions ... how about new values?

And hell, isn't it funny how fast this has been moved to the feedbacks section?

Schade eigentlich.

Not really.

I refer you to this part of the front page:

And MB's request falls squarely under the category of "wish list", if I'm not mistaken.

The speed with which the thread was moved there merely points to how effective the current Mod team are, thus negating the point of this thread in the process.

If you can find a mentally stable female Heartlander, then maybe we'd consider it.

Good luck with the search.
Mental stability? Feminine touch?

:D ... can't speak for MB and her whatever motives ...
I didn't take it as a wishlist but as a topic for general discussion ... and a pretty one ... :D

Negating the point of having a female mod - but was that really the point,
assuming that MB surely knows about the feedback section and its function?

It's obvious it has to be me:

Whoever says there's too much smoke - gets banned.
Whoever says Eldritch can't sing - gets banned, tracked down and spanked severly.
Whoever says he is not pretty - gets banned, tracked down, and killed slowly.
