THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. Any idea where I can get my hands a good Sisters biography... does one exist ? Is anyone aware of any plans for someone to compile a sisters biograpahy ?

there was one written by A. Pinnel but it ends on VT/SGWBM era. to be precision it's a compilation of official zin or that kind of publications ( can't dug it up from my memory right now).

Andrew J. Pinnell wrote a series of official fanzine-style books called "Heartland"

there were 4 separate issues, and then an anthology which combines numbers 1, 2 & 3

I think there's a great book waiting to be written. While I don't know the mechanics of the publishing industry I'm encouraged that bands like the Psychedelic Furs and more recently Magazine now have well written biographies documenting the bands history etc.

Admittedly the magazine book came out after a flurry of activity, nevertheless this is a band who only achieved limited commercial success but who's recorded output has more than stood the test of time.

At the risk of turning this thread into book corner (I'm still hoping someone out there can illuminate us all ref the DD cover) I recently read "Coming Out as a Bowie Fan in Leeds, Yorkshire, England" while on holiday.

It's not quite the book i thought it was going to be, however was an enjoyable read. If you recall the 70's and like music - you'll probably enjoy it! If you live or lived in Leeds you'll certianly enjoy the observations ref the areas and the pubs!

There's a brief mention of TSOM but only in passing.

I've got two of these books. Aren't mine but am keeping them anyway.
I would like the whole issue to be complete. I have Heartland - Anthology of Issues I, II and III & Heartland Issue Four Summer 91.

The ones out of print that I'll pay loads of money for are
* Issue One/Winter 89 ~
* Issue Two/Summer 89 ~
* Issue Three/Spring 90
* Issue Four/Winter 90
* Issue Four/Summer 91

If anyone does own these and wants to get rid of them, I'd rather make a fellow HL'er rich instead of just any Joe on the internet!
So anyone cleaning out old stuff by any chance?

there was a polish edition of heartland (I, II, III + summer 92 in one piece) published in 1992:

A great and much missed magazine was Heartland. Needed proof reading slightly better in terms of spelling etc though I think the anthology corrected the errors as far as I recall. Sorry, the editor in me speaking there! ;D
