Agreed.Nadia81 wrote:Very cool to hear TOL but those clothes gave me the wiggins.Way more neo-nazi than amish, IMO and whats with the bovver boots? yeesh
"... because we're that kind of people."
I wonder whether a fashion designer has to ask the author of a song for permission to use it as soundtrack to a show, just curious.
Those clothes are in my opinion not bad at all and TOL doesn't sound stupid as their soundtrack, the only thing I dislike about fashion shows in general is that the people on catwalk are always all so young, tall, and emaciated. Really, really, it's high time they added some variety. People differ in sizes and shape, and the canons of beauty differ with time, location, and personal tastes, so why do fashion designers so stubbornly stick to young, tall and thin?
Does anybody remember those photos from a couple of years ago, was it Adidas or Nike I can't recall now, anyway there were people in goff swimming outfits, goff baseball outfits, and one of them was a cute mulatto boy with cat-eye contact lenses and a Sisters logo on his helmet? Does anybody still have them by any chance, I thought they were quite ridiculous but very beautiful at the same time.
Oh and I know little about amish versus neo-nazi fashion style, but just would like to remind that

The great lesson there is that you don't have to agree with what the Nazis did, but, yes, be honest about it, they did have the best uniforms. A lot of people can't come to terms with something as banal as that. They can't admit it, because somehow they feel like they're approving of what the Nazis did. That's very, very stupid, because to come to terms with the 20th century, to live in it and make the best of it - the way it is, not just sitting around holding hands, lighting candles and waiting for the next world or a better one - you have to be able to get off on those uniforms.

Because your average (gay male) fashion designer isn't sexually attracted to women and therefore prefers more androgynous models?_emma_ wrote:why do fashion designers so stubbornly stick to young, tall and thin?

Possibly. But I think people still hold onto the concept of glamour however subconsciously, is right about the uniforms. Bowie I think was the first to compare Nuremburg to a pop concert. People like glamour, even the dodgiest, hence fashion mags and Hollywood get away with it. Once wandered through a photo shoot in New York. The model was so stick thin it was silly. But I imagine it looked powerful on the page. It's a glamour in the enchantment sense but as observes you have to admit its power whilst of course not for a moment condoning it.

stupid mistake.
back on topic.
take a look at Leni's propaganda films, ok reason why they werw made was far from good but picture were delightful or comunism art (btw. mostly stolen from imperialistic art deco) they knew that if you use some nice for eye details, shine and glamour you can made people forget about the whole other things.
yeah... i said it... and a... sha-la-la-la
Yeah, could be.markfiend wrote:Because your average (gay male) fashion designer isn't sexually attracted to women and therefore prefers more androgynous models?_emma_ wrote:why do fashion designers so stubbornly stick to young, tall and thin?
But honestly, this is so f* sick, this constant promotion of anorexia. It's my pet hate, that's why I tend to voice my opinion whenever opportunity arises.
Apparently, there have been discussions about it. Apparently, in some countries the models are required to have their BMI checked before they can enter the catwalk - if it's too low they have to eat lunch before they are allowed to go. I say _apparently_, because most fashion shows still seem to only employ famished people, and the shows employing people who don't look famished are treated as some marginal curiosity. And I don't buy the story that those people are so slim by nature and have a faster metabolism - well, maybe only a small percentage of them, but most of them are just famished on purpose. It's such a pity, because fashion as "art" is a great thing, and the idea of manifesting inspirations through clothes and make-up is a great thing. But God, it really is possible, and not even difficult, to make a human being look stonking regardless of age and shape. For f* sake, those "designers" they should go to f* Whitby or M'Era Luna and learn a lesson there - they could watch people of all shapes looking good, and yes I think g*** is stupid, but the g*** uniforms are the best, there's no denying it. Is this very off topic yet and do I sound chaotic? As I said it's my pet hate so I got carried away.

Don't worry about it, I completely agree with you._emma_ wrote:Is this very off topic yet and do I sound chaotic? As I said it's my pet hate so I got carried away.
For what it's worth, as well as anorexia, the other of the fashion industry's dirty little secrets (not so secret) is the widespread abuse of amphetamines as appetite suppressants for the models.
