Today it's 13 years since the release of Vision Thing, I think...

Sigh.
It has been a long dry haul. But I am a desert creature.
It can be longer and drier, and I will survive.
Boo. Von...we miss you.

I remember the day it was released. First there had been the More-single, wich surfaced after what I considered a very long silence. The cover hinted at something new, something mysterious (or maybe not so much mysterious as Andrew with three new guys), and the song rose to the extreme expectations one had after its forerunner Floodland. Then I got home from some trip to someplace and bought the cd and the vinyl (this was after all 1990) at the same time. The cover seemed at first a bit minimalistic, but the inner sleeve photographs looked nice enough. First song VT, cock rock, witty lyrics, didn't really blow me away, like Dominion had in '87 (it grew on me later though). And then Ribbons. One of the best songs I had heard, I thought at the moment. I was truly amazed, by the music, the lyrics, arrangement, everything. DB made me go hmm, I just wasn't sure about it. SF on the other hand was a direct hit. Wich I can't really say about WYDSM. Dr. Jeep I liked from the word go, with it's fast moving rythm and eerie, haunting and chilling wail of synthezisers in the chorus, like a runaway train in a wintery night somewhere, but probably more like a runaway missile aimed at the states. More and I was wrong, needless to say, are two beautiful gems, one poppy and one not so poppy.vicus wrote:Today it's 13 years since the release of Vision Thing, I think...
I remember the feeling of having a full cd, a full album of new tracks to listen through, the anticipation, the... yeah well. I'm rambling. Nothing to do. But drugs.
I remember the wait between Floodland and Vision Thing seemed extraordinarily long - how little I knew!
Bought both on their day of release, the first when I was at school, the second at college.
Tempus fugit.

I had finally caught up with the modern world by then so all my VT era stuff is on CD, left me a bit cold at the time, I really like it now

Why don't you ask the kids at Tiananmen Square
Was fashion the reason why they were there?
They disguise it, hypnotize it
Television made you buy it

It could be worse. I'm a huge Kraftwerk fan, and it's been 17 years since their last album.
Oh and Vicus, I love 'Bone' comics too!

Tour De France isnt a proper album - it's a collection of remixes and rehashes, just like 1991's 'The Mix' album.vicus wrote:Black Shuck wrote:It could be worse. I'm a huge Kraftwerk fan, and it's been 17 years since their last album.
