Eureka Machines news

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

i didn't think you would be much of an ad person.
it's the only thing that i don't fancy about it, but hey i understand why.

a december update 8)

(full versions available here: http://is.gd/5aWPm )

We've got some gigs coming up this month, with our new friends Electric Six. Come and see us if you want a respite from those appalling Iceland adverts, the impending cold snap and Mariah Carey.

Monday 7 December 2009 - Academy, Liverpool | venue | tickets

Tuesday 8 December 2009 - Academy, Sheffield | venue | tickets

Wednesday 9 December 2009 - Duchess, York | venue | tickets

Thursday 10 December 2009 - Academy, Manchester | venue | tickets

Friday 11 December 2009 - Academy, Newcastle | venue | tickets

Saturday 12 December 2009 - Academy, Birmingham | venue | tickets

Sunday 13 December 2009 - Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff | venue | tickets

Monday 14 December 2009 - Crypt, Hastings | venue | tickets

Tuesday 15 December 2009 - Concorde 2, Brighton | venue | tickets

Friday 18 December 2009 - Wight Rock Bar, Ryde, Isle of Wight (us only) | venue

Saturday 19 December 2009 - Academy, Oxford | venue | tickets

Hope to see some of you there. We're recording in Jan and Feb by the looks of things, but there'll be the odd gig then too, so we'll send another of these mailouts...err... out, then.

In the meantime, keep in touch with us on Twitter, MySpace and Facebook if you do any of those things. Or even better just on our website.

All the best for the festive period, and, as Sir Cliff so beautifully riposted:

'It's a time for giving, a time for getting,
A time for FORgiving, a time for FORgetting.'

Or, as my five-year-old nephew sang yesterday:

'Christmas bells, Christmas bells, Christmas all the way...
Christmas, Christmas, Christmas, Christmas
Christmas..... holiday!'

Genius.

Any of these 2010 dates better for you? :D

- Friday 15 January - Fibbers, York
- Wednesday 20 January - The Nook, Holmfirth
- Friday 29 January - Casbah, Sheffield
- Saturday 30 January - Asylum, Birmingham
- Thursday 18 February - Retro Bar, Manchester
- Friday 19 February - Brudenell Social, Leeds
- Thursday 18 March - Thunderbolt, Bristol
- Friday 19 March - Engine Rooms, Brighton
- Saturday 20 March - Purple Turtle, London
- Wednesday 24 March - The Maze, Nottingham
- Saturday 3 April - The Garage, Swansea
- Saturday 1 May - Live At Leeds 2010

And thanks for the kind words of the person that said the new forum looked good! If I'm being honest, because I already run one for another band it was dead quick to set up from the template I already had, but it's great to have one at last...

free mp3 of the machines doing "silent night" available from http://www.eurekamachines.com/ 8)
And so this is Christmas, and 2009 is almost at an end. It has been a fabulous year for our little band, and we'd like to end it with A Christmas Gift For You, to say thank you for the support this year. It's the Eureka Machines version of Silent Night. Please download it and feel free to pass it among your friends as a Christmas gift for them, too (just make sure you tell 'em where it comes from). We've put the donation button thing on again, so if you enjoy it and think it's worth it, drop us the money for a festive pint in or something. But don't feel that you have to.

I hadn't noticed this before....here's the lyrics to a song by HMHB.
She stayed with me until,
She moved to Notting Hill,
She Said it was the place she needs to be,
Where the cocaine is fair-trade,
and frequently displayed,
is the Buena Vista Social Club CD,

I thought you'd be back in three weeks,
and we'd go wandering in the peaks,
sojourn in my uncle Joe's ashram,
And when you're in Matlock Bath,
You dont need Sylvia Plath,
Not while we've got mrs. Gibsons jam,
Alas I'm brooding along by the runnel,
while shes in Capri with her swain,
and the light at the end of the tunnel,
Is the light of an oncoming train.

Well we both grew up in Eyam,
and strange as it may seem,
niether of us thought we'd ever leave,
but the beak in Leek is weak,
and she's moved it so to speak,
with featureless TV producer Steve,
And now it's all Eva Cassidy,
and aphids in piccady,
and so I can only assertain,
That the light at the end of the tunnel,
Is the light of an oncoming train.

No frills, handy for the hills,
that's the way you spell New Mills,
brooding along by the runnel,
while shes in Capri with her swain,
and the light at the end of the tunnel,
Is the light of an oncoming train.
Is the light of an oncoming train.
Is the light of an oncoming.....

Gimme that old type religion,
Gimme that old type religion,
Gimme that old type religion,
It's good enough for me.
We forgive as we forget
As the day is long.

Sorry Lads, nearly missed this! The Nineteenth right? There is a stag do I'm meant to be at, but it's a three night thing so I reckon I can miss the first one! Game on, lads...

Also, I saw an EM video on Kerrang! Granted, it was about 1:30am and I was tired and emotional but I was most gratified to see Leeds Lad Done Good!
