One Some Of Us May Have Missed - Play Dead

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Play Dead were a damn fine band in the mid to late 80s, part of the tradition of what became known as 'goth' some of our younger listeners might just have missed them so.... http://www.waste.org/~winkles/playdead/

I hope you all enjoy

They were a classic 80s deathrock band vaguely similar to UK Decay who btw I appreciate very much.Had some very good tunes that I occasionally could catch up playing on the radio. But unfortunately are very little familiar to me as I couldn't and still can't afford any of their releases over here in Croatia. They were not as big as Sisters et al. *sigh*

i never really liked play dead :(

always thought they were another one of those 3rd rate goff bands... grey rather than black, if you see what i mean. same as the lorries and dance society. a couple of half decent tunes but most of their stuff sounded tunless and very derivative...

sorry :|

I've just downloaded the Play Dead Peel Sessions. I rather like it in an old skool goth sort of way

I like old Skool goff too, although the Mick mercer connotations have given it a bad reputation. UK Decay were cool too!!! For Madmen Only is one of my all-time fave LPs.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

arrgh! not the thcreaming marrioneth?

they were hilarious - the singer had a terrible lisp, and the guitarist who wrote all the lyrics used to go out of his way to use lots of S's in his lyrics... :D :D :D

"like christabelle" became "like chrith-tabelle"
"screaming master" became "thcreaming mathter"
etc etc etc

p*ss funny ;)

their music wasnt bad though 8)
