iPhone apps

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Depends on what the user wants if they're REALLY good I suppose.. anyway, these are what I got and use on a daily basis (i.e what I remember by heart, I can't be arsed to get my iPhone and actually look):

Weather Pro - Great for checking the weather during a day or week.
Convertbot - Converts the crap out of a lot of things.
Radio Energy - They got special channels for 80's and 90's music!
Stanza - Best eBook reader in my opinion.
Local Concerts - Checks what bands are playing in or near your area.
AutoStitch - Makes GREAT panoramas from your photos.
Camera Genius - Better camera app. Stabilizer included. ;)
PS Mobile - photoshop-thingy. Not that useful but rather good anyway.
Xewton Musicstudio - Expensive as f**k, but best music-app on the iPhone.
Qik video - alternative videorecorder for the 3GS, "a videorecorder" for the 3G. ;)
Kooaba - Take a picture of a CD or DVD, then get all the info of it. Really neat.
TeamViewer - for us sysadmins. Secure remote control of workstations and servers, etc.

Also, Plants vs Zombies should be a mandatory app on every iPhone, even if it's a game.
Stating the bloody obvious since... well, forever.

Nothing to do with gender - I just don't like "smart" phones.
All I require of my mobile is that I should be able to make a telephone call with it.

I don't want it to take pictures, record video, play music, connect ot the internet, act as a second rate GPS or inform me who is selling widgets the cheapest.

On that note, I should probably leave this thread! ;D

Better than the standard Apple Remote app? Think that's quite neat too!
  • Flashlight is quite essential I think, the app's name tells what it does.
  • Layar is one of the coolest ones next to Shazam, augmented reality! :D :notworthy:
  • AroundMe finds all you want around you
  • NumberKey Free turns your phone into a numeric keypad to your MacBook. Very handy! (you'll need to install an app on your computer though)
  • WritePad lets you write text on the screen with your fingers and then turns it into typed out text :D
  • RulerPhone lets you know how big stuff is by taking a photo of it with a credit card next to it. Cool!
  • PreSize is a calliper. Gets even cooler when you've got friends with more iPod Touches/iPhones as you can turn them into one big combined calliper :D
  • IMDB is handy to look up movies as the site looks crap on the built-in web browser
  • Google Earth and Nasa are nice ones too, pretty obvious what they do
  • iSeismo is cool, Seismograph! :D
  • Drinks Free: All the recipes to all the cocktails you could ever think of
  • WhatTheFont: Make a photo of something written, it'll recognise the font  :notworthy:
  • eBay: Better than the website! I surf eBay from my phone these days!
  • Gorillacam: Free camera app which adds some nice functionalities
  • LightMeter: For the photography geeks, this turns your iPhone into a rather good instant light meter!
That's about it :D
Styles are a lie.
