Having read about people's stories about the Albert hall 85--was/is there anybody here that was at any of the 81 gigs, notably the first gig with The Thompson twins headlining (yeah, I know,The Thompson Twins and the word headlining in the same sentence is odd!)
just intrested to know
Just out of Interest...
Never actually knew that the sisters supported the Thompson twins - the first single I ever bought was 'hold me now' by TT (not something that fills me with pride).....
Ah the TTs started out as a quite experimental outfit. Always had a soft spot for them. And always quite liked their Sister of Mercy single! Without shame!

I suppose that even if they're still alive they don't give a f**k anymore. The Sisters last, their fans come and go, that's the way it is.Maisey wrote:There are a few who were at the RAH gig - haven't heard of anyone being at the first gigs.

My first Sisters gig was at Night Moves, Glasgow in 83...knew nothing about them until I bought Alice after hearing it on Peel in early 83...and there, it startedsam1 wrote:Having read about people's stories about the Albert hall 85--was/is there anybody here that was at any of the 81 gigs, notably the first gig with The Thompson twins headlining (yeah, I know,The Thompson Twins and the word headlining in the same sentence is odd!)

A friend of mine was at the infamous Birthday Party/Sisters gig. He didn't realise it was the Sisters supporting them though he managed to get into a fight with Tracey Pew!

Yeah! There's a good bit in the Nick Cave biography about that gig. The Sisters asked what Mr Cave thought of them. As you can imagine the answer wasn't entirely positive...

Lord, what can the harvest hope for, if not for the care of the reaper man.
Yeah, it was along the lines of 'you're the worst band ever, give up'. Apparently and the guys said thanks for advice but we've decided to continue! Maybe it wasn't the thing to ask the Birthday Party what they thought...

Always liked what Eldritch said at a gig in York. Something like " we played our first gig in York supporting The Thompson Twins when they were good and now they're not so we dont play with them anymore"
