Slightly depressed.... (CBPOB)

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

what learning java will do is give you a good grounding in the basic principles of OO

inheritance, abstraction, reuse, the values of design patterns, etc etc etc. all the buzzwords and more.

also ,if you start using it for anything other than command line data manipulation, you'll probably come across a few good frameworks that will help you along the way

for example, if you apply java to the web you'll probably want to check out spring mvc, struts, or other such frameworks

and after ALL that, you'll be able to pick up pretty quickly decent web mvc frameworks in languages such as php (eg: zend, codeignitor, php cake, etc) or somesuch...

Or write your own framework.

Once you get the discipline of doing proper OOP in PHP it gets a lot easier. I've developed a nice little library of code (admittedly I'm always improving it) which I reuse time and again.

I feel your pain. Sideways knocked is the worse cause it comes as a shock out of the blue. Yet we know we find the time to be sad but have to carry on tomorrow. *holds your heart in my hands*

I remember being blown away (excuse the pun) when Kurt Cobain killed himself. It's hard when your heroes leave too early, be it ill health or otherwise.

I saw Don McLean on telly tonight, he looked f**king dead :innocent:

My inability to get the rest of my team up to speed with the new control system we are now using at work.
Signs are I've underestimated my workload and quality help is in limited supply.
Heroic measures will be called for in the next couple of months if I wish to avoid looking a complete tit.

Ambition, truly you are a cruel mistress.

i'm marking assignments and i can't believe the crap i'm reading. the pesky critters obviously haven't even been arsed to read the assignment instructions, let alone the relevant sections in their coursebook and the documents i posted on the course website. needless to say, all the stuff we talked about in class have gone in one ear and out the other :x

someone's doing something wrong. and i'm beginning to think it's me :? :(

I've worked for The Man a few times, can't really complain.

Writing about it, on the other hand, is an almighty fook-around.

Know what you mean - having worked for any number of mythical beasts I would agree that they make lousy bosses.

My team leader sent my manager a childish, rude and quite incorrect email about me.

Silly moo sent it to me by mistake.

I reply back to both of them stating the accusation was incorrect and that is no way to talk about a fellow member of staff.

I speak to manager, who says the team leader states it was a comment about something else (as if the something else was alright to comment on).

I refute this as the complete lie it is and refuse to accept an apology from her based on a lie.

We go back in the office only to find she has vanished and therefore unable to provide this 'apology'.

I leave early and go and pick up my boy from school. 8)

Meeting workmate for bevvy'n'bitch in an hour.

What a f**king Day.. :?

look at it this way: you caught them out slagging you off, and you fronted up to them.

trust me, they'll be the one that feels embarrassed and they will be the one that is worried what you'll say next time you see them. they're the one that looks foolish ;)
