Happy St. George's Day

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

St. George, that well admired Turk who fought for the Romans and slayed the Islamic dragon for the good of Christendom. :notworthy:

George (died 303AD) predated Islam by more than 300 years. :innocent:

The story of George and the Dragon is basically a Christianised retelling of Perseus' rescue of Andromeda.

The myth of George and the Dragon was not mentioned until about the 10th century, post dating Islam by even more than 300yrs :innocent:
Stories of legendary characters from history and utilising their myth to defend a nation's religion have been told since well before George.
