I did try and buy a ceedee by them earlier with mainly King and Klang (I think it involved hitting on a air plane engine - which is cool in concept but not superb to listen too) and was put off listening to EN for quite some time after. That was until I found out about most albums described above

And to think you're off to see Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music and you've not heard the album

Errr.. depends what your tolerance is of metal and silly things..

Strategies Against Architecture II & III will give a good overview of the later period of their work, which is slightly less clangy... Halber Mensch is probably their opus with regards to screeching metal and the video of the album is a classic if only for the rendition of Det Tod Ist Ein Dandy replete with Mufti battering the proverbial schiesse out of a sizable block of metal out of rhythm..

nah, Tabula Rasa, Grunsteuck, Ende Eneu and Haus Der Luge are where to start.. (Haus Der Luge is a bit weak I think, but the title track is one of the best pieces of song writing ever.. period..)

Personally I like the early work best, and dislike the last two albums.

Halber Mensch is one of my favorites as well, but Ende Neu is probably a better place to start.....and there's also the live album at the AB from I think 2001, which is very good and gives a good idea about the different works of the band

To be fair I haven't really been listening to later Neubauten albums much, early "difficult listening" is my cup of tea, but that's just me.

I would take the songs Seele Brennt and Feurio if I had just two songs to persuade Quiff of the Neubauten. And if he had the nerve to listen to a whole mix tape, I would probably choose from the first albums:

i have Tanz Debil on a compilation somewhere. it's very cool

i think i've got/heard Seele Brennt & Feurio on the 4 albums i've tracked down, but havent listened to them on their own - only as par of an album.

will go back and have a listen of those 2 on their own

the combination of voice & accent makes it rather, ummm, sinister, but cool in an abstract, germanian goff kinda way

like how kraftwerk lyrics didnt sound as good when they did them in english and you realised they were a bit twee
