I watched Star Wars again last night. I managed to track down a copy of the "Han shot first" non-special-edition versions of the original trilogy, ripped from the laserdiscs.

oooooh.
where? by torrent? what's the quality of the rip like?
What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
They were reissued on DVD a few years back, completely unaltered and original. Quite fuzzy quality and not the full widescreen though.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The versions I have are full widescreen.
There is a little motion blur visible on some scenes, but I don't think it's the DVD source.
I'm informed that the versions I got were (like I said) ripped from the laserdiscs released in the 80s.

I could be misremembering of course; haven't watched them in years. Pretty certain that they are widescreen, but something like 16:9 instead of the full 2.4:1 (or whatever) used by the remastered editions.

Oh these are definitely wider than 16:9. I was watching on a 16:9 TV and there are black "letterbox" bars at top and bottom.

The TV adaptation of Going Postal. Good to see Pterry making a cameo at the end.
