Best Sisters guitarists

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Both solutions are equally possible.

I always liked the Starling/Pearson line-up myself (and I'm a big fan of Starling's work generally). I also liked Pearson/Catalyst--I thought they sounded really good together. I like Ben's playing, but sometimes it's a little too skronky-metal for me. It depends on my mood, I guess.

I like the present line up. I rate Ben as a really good guitarist but I don't like his sound. I don't see the point in comparing the different line ups ,this version is just another way to efficiently skin a cat...as with all natural products quality may vary.

Bruhn & Pearson kicked major ass in 1993. It was the closest to Motörhead that this band could get.

Bruhn / Pearson or Pearson / Varjak.

About the current line-up... Chris is great. Ben is a fine guitar player but I just don't think his sound is right for TSOM.

whitout any doubt, Adam Pearson is the best one in my opinion and the best combo i´d say Pearson - Varjak.

Unsure myself, really. Though I hear a lot of comments that are down on the current lineup, I found a Youtube video not too long ago from the last tour (might have been Leeds, can't remember) of them playing Flood II (my personal favorite Sisters song - or one of em anyways) and though the vocals were low and mumbley as usual, the guitars sounded fantastic and worked with the song perfectly. Louder than the album version obviously, almost a sort of Pink Floyd sound to them. I played that video over and over again for days just to hear it.

Marx/Gunn/Eldritch. :D
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Bruhn, Bricheno & James trounce all the later line-ups.
Didn't see them pre-90 but Pearson & Varjak would take second place.

I'd go for Adam + the Catalyst. It must have been quite hard for Ben to fill in Adams shoes but I think he's developing very well during the last years. Besides that he's a top dude and both, ben and chris, seems to re-energize the "project sisters" and :von: a bit.
