World Cup

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Why couldn't neither France nor Uruguay get it together to score even one goal for me?

well France played better than I expected. I was waiting for Urugay to score at any moment for whatever reasons. Suarez didn't do much at all, not that they ever got the ball that far ahead, anyways it was juts nice to sit down and watch football. you could are see some beau moves (not only when they took their shirts off lol).

I gotta go see my mother in law but I have demanded to be back by ARG vs NGA. so I miss the Korea and Greece match:(

oh and the referee was right on the spot yesterday. I would have given a red card straight with what Lodeiro did

I always hope England get knocked out early, or don't qualify. That way I'm saved the humiliation of watching my country get dragged through the dirt by it's football fans.

I'll only watch if Beckham's there so I have something pretty to look at. Or Sweden if Freddie Ljunberg still plays.

Strange thing about the Anyone But England attitude in the Celtic Whinge (sorry Fringe), when I moved back to England from Finland, there was a Scotland vs Italy rugby game on in a pub I visited. All the English were cheering on Italy and laughed uproariously when Scotland lost. I think it's safe to say the slightly bitter attitude goes both ways these days..

Another good reason not to support England. "Brits on the p*ss" abroad -- it's a national disgrace.

Don't tell me this misplaced support is based on the St.Pauli connection because that will be taking hero worship ( :von: ) way too far.

True enough, but if the English national teams' followers are a disgrace, what about the supporters of Italian and Turkish club sides abroad? The English at least don't knife people. Curiously a lot of the older football "firms" over here are now in with the EDL.

I was talking about the football fans internationally, not the English in general! I can remember a couple of deaths involving Roma and Galatasaray fans being knife-happy and wondering at the time why those teams weren't excluded from competition as calls were made for the English football team for less.

Where I live at the moment (c**t) the only knife carriers are the Kurds. They have some running feud with the Polish here based on, from what I can gather from former Polish work colleagues, Kurdish mens liking for Polish girls. The wonders of diversity..

 Here we go again. Watch the behaviour of other teams' fans. I'll bet England have a trouble-free tournament.

...This confirms my theory that you ain't a football fan.

Looks like it's me in the minority on here who's proud to be English, proud of my national team and desperate for them to do well.

it's worth pointing out that the only trouble of the tournament so far was the stewards and officials protesting/rioting about their low pay. and the rather OTT response of the SA security nipped that bud pretty quickly. :o :urff:

it would be a brave hooligan that steps out of line with those psychos waiting to tear gas the f**k out of you :o
