First single you ever bought?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I would love to be able to say it was Are Friends Electric? by Tubeway Army, but I can't. It was Bugs Bunny Sings. :innocent:

Loki was never worshiped as the other Gods,

I've always been a more albums person than that singles one so it's no wonder that I own a very few of them in my collection. The first and also the last single I bought myself was that Electronic's "Disappointed" one from 1992.I'm getting them mostly from my friends and relatives who are well informed about my musical taste.

It's silly to be embarrassed about the fact you were a kid once. Kids like different things from grown ups. It's quite natural.

Unless you still like the same stuff you did when you were five, like I do.

T Rex - Ride A White Swan in Boots big Glasgow store with a 'Boots Gift Voucher' I got for Christmas many, many years ago. I remember being most impressed that the b-side had 2 tracks on it.

I can't remember the first single I ever bought, but the first song I remember thinking was very good was West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys. That is still a great record. And I still don't think they have come close to anythig that good since.

That's great :D My first album I bought for my own hard earned money was Kiss: Destroyer. I'm not sure I've ever been that happy since. ...well, I have. But still.

And from there, from Destroyer, it's been one long and winding road of glam, Bowie, german death metal, canadian avant-industrial music, that eventually lead to the Sisters, just in time to see them split up and form two separate Sisterhoods.

Giles Smith is quite funny on this. We all, apparently, have an 'official' answer to this (what we would have LIKED to have bought first), and a 'true' answer.

Mine aren't that far apart in artist, but they are in taste

Official: Kraftwerk, the Model
True: Kraftwerk, Tour de France.

And yes, I had a lot of Pet Shop Boys records too. I may buy the best of. The best male English pop band for twenty years, I venture?

Well, y'know, I never used to buy singles until much much later, so I'm proud as punch to say it was actually "Alice"!!! Not joking.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
