World Cup

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

i disagree, Mark ;D
i played foot-ball and when you are loosing 2-0 and after you score for the 2-2 a new energy comes and matches can turn differently
however, it's not my way to defend, beeing italian myself, Capello: he failed but the blames are to give to the players too, they were on the field and they failed first

with all honestly you have to look at the way the team performed in the previous matches. and that was poor. we've seen matches to be turned around so if the team would have been that good they could have done it. they should be happy they were not down 7-1 or such. their only luck was that they faced a young german team

I have no defence - much like England.

I play centre-half, every Sunday, as captain. I'd be embarrassed at our performance if we conceeded goals that easy. Johnson has always looked ropey for me. Terry looked lost at international level - though I can't really question his commitment. Upson? His only grace was his goal. Cole is only interested in his wallet. And strippers. King? Do me a favour - with that level of injury-prone?

If any good will come out of it, it'd be the end of the media "Golden Generation" hype. Too many players only interested in the glamour and fame side of things instead of the real business. 5-Star accommodation, regular luxury treatment and they still complain of tiredness and boredom. Tiredness is a single mum, bringing up two or three kids whilst holding down a low-paid job. Boredom is a job stacking, packing or whatever for the minimum wage.

The simple truth is England neither wanted or deserved it enough.

Is there some kind of law that Emile Heskey has to play? I mean, is it written into the contract of every England manager that no matter if even Aston Villa don't think he's good enough, he must be in the squad? It reminds me of Glenn Hoddle's man-crush on Darren Anderton.

As for the league teams, in all seriousness, why should Ferguson (Scots), Wenger (French), Ancelotti (Italian), or Benitez (well, maybe not him anymore, but anyways..Spanish) give two hoots about England's national football team? I doubt even the English managers care much, it's not as if the FA pays their wages.

So, have my fellow English on here decided who they'll support, now England's players have finally been allowed to go home? I've always had a soft spot for the Dutch, since I've never met an unpleasant one.

in Argentina there are lot of italian immigrants and many good players, like J. Zanetti and Cambiasso(althought they aren't playing for the "seleccion" actually), Mascherano, DeMichelis, Palermo, Maradona himself, have their italian Grandparents...so i go for Argentina

i watch sometimes Argentinian championship and i can assure their foot-ball misses of spectacularity. however the only spectacular teams they had were in Argentina 78(and i think you know how they won the cup!!!), Spain 82(kicked out by Italy), Mexico 86(with the help of the hand of God  ) and Italy 90(final match against germany) and when Maradona was squalified during USA 94 they lost fantasy and spectacularity....they are still waiting a new "Maradona" to born, but most of times strenght and solidity work better than fantasy and spectacularity

lol I stand corrected. jesus we had some serious screaming going on I was 100% sure they f**ked it up in the first half. the red card was seriously wrong and I am gald the referee was relatively ok. the dutch came back in the second half and so they did it.

So, whilst congratulating the Dutch I'll wind back to England as there's some interesting (and allegedly true) stories going around. I'll just quote some quotes from other forums to give you the story.
Heard a rumour that England's performance was down to serious arguments within the team - word is that both Stevie G and Wazza have been caught doing rather naughty things of late - Stevie G in particular, which led to tension between him, Capello and JT (who wanted Gerard stripped of the captaincy).

No idea how true this is, but was presented to me as fact...

A gagging order in force presently to protect the interests of the team, though due to be lifted within the fortnight...
This above is from someone in the legal profession ...and below was posted on an ex-pats English-speaking forum in Germany.
I don't know if there is any truth in the rumours, but it has been said that Frau G has been playing away with Herr C of Derby County and Scotland, so Herr G has been playing in the away strip. Herr C became a daddy in January to Frau C. Herr G had already allegedly paid off a 16-year old he had got in the family way, and the new revelations may, or may not be about the same girl. Whatever, the source is supposed to be the same that tipped the press off to Herr T's indiscretions with Frau B two days before the story broke on the national headlines and Herr T was stripped of the armband, and Herr B refused to play international any more. The two week gagging order is not new, but an extension until after The Soho Muppets have decided on Snr. C's job prospects. Alles Klar?
@ Hom: Who is "Herr C of Derby County and Scotland" :?:

So to summarise, Stevie G accepted the captain's "Armband of Doom" after JT's indiscretions, without mentioning to Capello that he'd banged up a 16-year-old and then paid her off. When JT found out, they had some fisty-cuffs that Capello had to break up. Hence the split in the camp. Loyalties towards a former captain or a whining overated scouse git.

I don't know which tabloid shit has the exclusive but I'd guess The News of The Scum are in pole position.

I've not been the best human being in the world but if someone offered me £170k per week to run around in shorts, kicking a ball on a big patch of grass, I'd seriously consider being a eunuch.

Anyway, back to my birthday guests. One of whom is wearing an orange football shirt and looking very happy with herself. :P
