Has anyone actually seen Von play guitar?
I don't understand why some of you rate BenJovi as a good guitarist for the Sisters, he adds nothing to the sound and his own band are utter crap. I would hate to think he may be involved in writing any new Sisters material.

Yes, though I seem to recall he has commented that he has difficulty playing guitar and standing up (let alone playing and singing at the same time).

Marx/Gunn (which seems to also include by default!)
Having said that, I've seen the current line up a few times & always found them a top nite out...! (except the astoria stop over on the silver bullet express )

However Ben & Chris are great but the Sisters need a Bass player !

Could not agree more. All the guitar players have been good and added their personality to the songs, but the big thing has ALWAYS been the bass and since the bass got dropped, something died in Sisters.antvic wrote: However Ben & Chris are great but the Sisters need a Bass player !
But all in all, Chris is the best!

Thanks my friend.
The Sisters are a bass driven machine and always
will be like ''The Fall'' I guess?
When I hear C Adams & T James playing in the Sisters it really added something and it got me into playing Bass also.
Nuff said.

And John Perry.Quiff Boy wrote:surprised people are crediting von with doing that much guitar on VT. its not something i'd ever considered (and still don't).
why do we think bruhn "didn't do as much as one might think"? i'd always thought most of the VT guitar sound/playing was down to him
So just that riff then. Presumably Gary did the rest. (Can't remember whether Ben was still around at that stage.)mh wrote: Presumably however a good proportion of the studio guitar was actually done by Eldritch. We already know that Reptile House and ToL were Eldritch playing

Agreed. The guitar/bass interplay is a huge part of what I think of as The Sisters' Sound. Big riffs, for sure, but the grinding bass guitar underneath makes it so much more.il duce wrote:Could not agree more. Not too sure he'd appreciate being called Adam Pearsom though.
Quick thumbs up for Starling. Didn't mention it earlier. Damn fine. Astoria 2003 both nights were great. He looked the part and he did the part.
Stop fishing or whatever your doing Chris and rock.

i mentioned this to chris catalyst, as i recall him saying he had been to the studio on more than one occaission, and he was kind enough to enlighten me with the following factoids:
thanks for the info, chris
so there you go.That nice Mr Catalyst wrote:Adam's studio is no longer Adam's studio.
The house was bought by (superstar DJ, Leeds legend and former Sisters roadie) Dave Beer about four or five years ago. The studio bit is now known as Cottage Road Studios and it's where Eureka Machines recorded the drums for the Do Or Die album, as well as the new album which I'm finishing now. It's run by Andy Hawkins (who used to play bass for Midget, and The Damned, for a bit) and Matt Peel (who used to work at Joseph's Well with me). Both fine gentlemen and fine artists in their own right.
In fact the first time I met Andrew was there when it was still Pravda studios. I was doing some session singing for a project with Adam and Dave Creffield (who has, over the years, been Nurse to the Doktor, soundman, and guitar tech for the Sisters, along with being producer to the stars - Embrace, Kaiser Chiefs etc) in about 2003 and Andrew and Chris Starling were knocking about, pre-Smoke And Mirrors tour.
(And my favourite Sisters guitarist? Now that would be telling.)
thanks for the info, chris

In 2021 the Sisters guitar duties will be handled by Doktor Avalanche, when he gets updated to a new, mobile, robotic form. Ben is kept to attract female audience. In 2031 Doktor takes over the band, releases a new album, and goes on a tour to end all tours.

I could agree as I did chose him together with Gary, too. However thinking about it now, I wonder if it's only the sound - or - the spirit that made the memorable (early/80ies) Sisters sound? The music/sound at that time wasn't always brilliant but the spirit wasdamagedone wrote:Adam Pearson is the man,he definitely got that Sisters sound.
