Ever since Tuesday night I have had one song going through my head and it's starting to get just a tad annoying. I awoke Wednesday with it playing in my skull and it just will not go away.
RIBBONS, a song that has never been a favourite, but is now an obsession.
Please help, suggestions?

You've certainly been making up for it since c. 2005. I swear that every time I log on here I see a new 'The Sisters are s**t' post from you. It is becoming more than a little tedious.James Blast wrote:I used to say shite like that, then I realised I was lying to myself. they're a pale shadow that do not deserve their fans
Many people, myself included, have been a bit down on the girls these last few years, but I think the recordings I've heard, and the reviews I've read, from Leamington Spa and Lokeren show that any downward trend has definitely ended, for now at least. Most notably, Andrew's singing has recovered remarkably.
I'm looking forward to the 30th Anniversary.

...same here. I haven't left a Sisters gig since 2005 with anything like a feeling of satisfaction, which is why I didn't bother this time round, but I don't really see the point of repeating and repeating and repeating that every time someone says they enjoyed a particular show. I don't expect the absence of negative reviews, but it's just the same comments every time, on almost every show thread. What is the point?
Personally I hope the positivity surrounding the new shows hails at least a bit of a return to form, and I'll be much more inclined to make my way to a dodgy city or two next time round.
On a secondary note, listening to the recordings; it's probably a good job I didn't make it. I really, really cannot stand chatters at gigs, they drive me up the friggin' wall STFU

The gig wasn't nearly as "chatty" as the recording suggests,it just happens that they are close to the mike.At the gig,the actual volume of the music was much louder than someone talking close to you,in fact, when I was down the front belting out the words to Alice,I couldn't even hear myself, which is probably a very good thing indeed.RobF wrote:

It seemed a much louder gig, sound wise than the two previous shows I went to,Leeds last year and Rock City in 2006.

... I'm hellish oversensitive on this subject and I know it; I get massively irriatable. Mainly since giving up the pop. There's a lovely recording of N.Cave at ATP a few years ago, where you can hear the chatting round the bootlegger end quite abruptly with me hissing "STFU or leave, no one wants to hear your drivel". Harsh, but we were in about row three, central, and he was playing Into My Arms. Why do some people even come to gigs?ribbons69 wrote:The gig wasn't nearly as "chatty" as the recording suggests,it just happens that they are close to the mike.At the gig,the actual volume of the music was much louder than someone talking close to you,in fact, when I was down the front belting out the words to Alice,I couldn't even hear myself, which is probably a very good thing indeed.RobF wrote:

Dave wasn't standing in the what I would have thought as the best spot for bootlegging (i.e. front and centre surrounded by the mental people with his back on the mosh pit). I think the show was so good that he didn't fancy moving back, end result the sound of the crazy people.
As Ribbons69 suggests, it wasn't loud enough that at the time you didn't really notice people talking.

Nationalise the f**king lot.
I've listened to the recording just the once and probably won't again, it doesn't sound like the gig I remember watching and it's doubly distracting being able to identify at least half of the voices.
I sympathise with the complaints from front row.
Appreciate the effort to record though!

samewise and concurri-fashion! i've seen the sisters play well, inaudibly, badly, drunkenly, enthusiastically; i've seen them play all your faves, the same set for days into weeks, "new" ones and utter surprises; and i've seen them play for small, exuberant, uninterestedly old-school, fanatical, vast-to-festival crowds....and i've always enjoyed every gig regardless. cuz seeing the sisters is like sex- and you don't swear off making the beast-of-two-backs for life just because of one crap shag...or even an entire career-long string of manky-to-middlin' holes!DomConway wrote:I'll 5th thatwelshbiker wrote:Hell yeahweebleswobble wrote: Dudes
this was the best sisters gig since feb 2001 at rock city for me....NTTC made me cry (my never surrender anthem for a life-time and particularly apt at the moment) ; amphetamine logic made me deliriously happy cuz i've only been shouting for it since reading in 91; and rain from heaven punished me then forgave me, as i too didn't recognise it till the vocals came in, before which time i'd been trying to get a beer in during the break. body electric / train / marian always rock, and if you don't sing along to dominion / vision thing /crash 'n' burn / summer with joy in your heart then you've probably got a swinging brick where your ticker should be. and did i mention they started with FALAA? Fucking Awesome!
wicked to see any of the HL family as always -love to you all.
oh yeah it was my missus's first sisters gig and she loved it! how cool to be able to introduce someone you love and adore to something you've always loved and adored and them start to love and appreciate that thing in turn with you.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

my bf's reaction to my attempts at getting him to listen my sisters bootlegs has invariably included the line "what the f**k is this?"
maybe i should throw him in at the deep end and drag him along to the next* gig

Just remeber trying to get pictures, but I'm sure that the smoke was getting in the optics of my camera... they brought six hazer machines, SIX!!! the venue already has two. A very good gig, even though the rest of the week was spoiled by work.
we're better than the birthday party, but not as good as motorhead, that makes us pretty damn good!!!!
Much as I hate the chattering (and being behind either farty guy or snoggy couple or stupidly tall youth) at gigs, the thing I loathe more is being glared at, or shushed by people bootlegging - which is essentially stealing. But by the same token, so is taking photographs I suppose.
It's hard being me.

I still have this recording to look forward to - I do hope it contains the cushion remark Despite the noise at the front, I think this gig was my favourite out of the 3. A pleasant afternoon eating and drinking outside right next to the venue, followed by a stunning gig. Sound was loud but not too loud, vocals were a bit gravelly, but in a good way:-) Not to mention the sheer surprise of hearing Rain From Heaven, which I finally recognised just before the vocals came in. That song works unexpectedly well live!! Thanks to the Leamington locals for putting so much effort into making everyone feel welcome: Steve made sure we found the hotel and somebody (Colin Darklord?) plastered that crudely drawn but extremely useful map at strategic locations around town. It’s now a treasured souvenir:-D And I rather enjoyed the school disco feel of the aftershow in Kelsey’s – best pint of orange juice I’ve ever had!czuczu wrote:I've listened to the recording just the once and probably won't again, it doesn't sound like the gig I remember watching and it's doubly distracting being able to identify at least half of the voices.

Oh, and Michael, you weren't the only one who got stuck in the bogs in TJ's! When I went, I encountered somebody else frantically hammering to be let out

It was such a pleasure to see The Sisters play if not in Leeds so at least in England ... and then a gig like this! ... : : : : ... ...
That slow version of Body Electric alone had already been worth the travel ...

Oh I nearly forgot...
Amphetamine Logic, just after the first "Give me, one good reason, give me more..." someone in the audience yells "SPEED".
Would I be right in guessing that was Lee?
