Essen Vids on You Tube

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Someone lately uploaded 12 vids of a Sisters' gig in the Grugahalle in Essen to YouTube ... :notworthy: ... first of them here.

Don't know whether it's 14th May 1991 or 16th December 1993 ...

the good news so far is that all these people yelling "they used to perform better live 20 yrs ago" are not right. Apart from the crummy VHS, this could've been last month.

maybe, but don't you think its sounds better with a real/proper bass in it

with a real bass, a band does at least look better live and four actors
seem to produce a somewhat stronger dynamic on stage than three ... 8) ...

anyway, IMHO, it's mostly a visual effect ... and given the increased amount of fog
and the lights nowadays, an additional bass player could be rather an irritating factor ... ...

If a band is able to appreciate the instrument with some presence in the mix and neat basslines, a bass doesn't have to sound like some unwanted but necessary evil humming in the background. I think The Cure is a good (positive) example:

Lucretia with a human bass kicks ass up to the maximum as well:
