Snub Nose v Top Nite Out

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I've always known THAT instrumental as SN. I've always assumed TNO was another ditty occasionally played as an encore when in the mood but I had yet to come across it. Now I've received a boot listing SN-TNO but it's what I know as SN. It's not a two song medley. Clarification please ..? :?

Which is quite understandable.

The first tour (2000) they played it on they gave it a different name every night, and then settled on a name at the end of the tour.

Names I can remember it going under include "Snub Nose", "Top Nite Out" and "Or Whatever". I'm sure that there are more.

Snub Nose is what is was called the first time it was played (12 August 2000 Mera Luna Festival) and it's kinda stuck, but the band seem to have gone with Top Nite OUt

Thank you. A question asked and fully answered. A rare occurrence on HL these days as the current vogue appears to be to morph every thread into a discussion about apostrophes or bodily functions.

The first few alternative titles even made a sentence when put together:

"Snub Nose" "or whatever" "Adam decides"

Groovy or wot?

I prefer Top Nite Out as a title, good description of what's just after happening.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

And we must also take issue with the misspelling of the word "Night"! Like come on!!!! Von's a linguist, he should know better. This is not acceptable!!

Assuming your **** is a negative, I disagree. I kinda like it in a jump up and down and bounce around the room, Nirvana three chord thrash with some twiddly bits to keep your interest, way.

I saw the setlist for the recent Bristol gig, and it was definitely listed as Top Nite Out. Sounds kind of cheesy. The song is a grower, I think, but in need of some good lyrics.

Let us now forget the firearm possibility. Here is a photo, but there are bound to be others: http://www.replicaweaponry.com/del9mmblande.html.

Count me among those who prefer the name Snub Nose. Top Nite Out for a title??? Bleh! [Okay, how long before someone posts a poll forour opinions?]

I will see if I can track down the list of titles used during the tour when it premiered.

Given the AK-47 references in "Finland Red, Egypt White", I thought it was a gun reference; as in snub-nose revolver.
See an example here.

The titles given that tour were (in orde of performance):

Snub Nose
Or Whatever
Adam Decides
This Night
Hinkathonic
Protosonic
Number's Called
!

Read the titles in order to get the hidden message.

Martin

P.S. Snub Nose is still the best title of the bunch to me. [How long before someone does a poll on all of these titles? ]

Well I like it, whatever it's called.

Take a look four posts up from yours. There were indeed more than four titles for Snub Nose.

Snub, Romeo and Slept are the best new Sisters songs. I don't like crap like Will I Dream or Crash and Burn. Who wrote these guitars? Tottaly misunderstanding.
