Your help is wanted for an article I'm doing for UNSCENE Mag

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I hear ya: the 82/83 era would've been my pick also if it wasn't for the spring tour of 84, right up to their best little tour ever: the Dutch one at the end of May/beginning of June. The Nijmegen bootleg being the best Sisters disc around for me. They were so firing on all cilinders at that time. By the time of the Black October tour in Oct/Nov they lost some of their edge sadly...

Band connections/experiences:

Not really. I've contacted Ben a few times via MySpace - he's always nice and seems to be interested to maintain a conenction with the fans. I appreciate that a lot because this is not something I would call "his duty". He also put me on the guestlist once after sending him a DVD.

I made another, less positive experience in Dresden, anno 2009. I got caught filming the show by one of the band roadies. That monkey pulled me across the venue (pretty roughly) to the merch guy where I had to delete my recording. Later he didn't wanted to sell me a shirt after the gig

I still have the moment I got caught there on tape, see:

Your Age ; 33
Top 5 Sisters songs ever ; Dominion/Mother Russia, Crash & Burn, More, Alice, Can I cheat & also have both Flood I and Flood II as one entry?
Favourite Album ; Floodland (my mum bought her own copy when I moved out, as she missed it being played first thing every morning!)
How many times approx. have you seen The Sisters ; 11
Favourite Sisters Line-Up ; Having not seen all the line-ups live, I don't feel qualified to answer.
Favourite Gig ; Leamington Spa 2010 (for various reasons, including the band being on top form) :innocent: Josephs Well, Leeds in 2005 is a close second place.
Worst Gig ; I thought that the Forum gig in London 2009 was terrible, I spent most of the set wishing I had sold my ticket to a tout outside the venue, as I think tickets were changing hands for up to £75! I don't understand why it was so terrible, as Leeds the day before had been most enjoyable.
Best Tee-Shirt ; I like both my embroidered hoody (sadly looking rather tired after probably 10 years of wear) and embroidered long sleeve thermal top the best. I did nearly thieve Mr. Spig's original f**k me and marry me young t-shirt  , but I thought I'd already done enough damage ...
As for memories, erm York 2001, I'd consumed far too much vodka and other stuff, then after the gig, Eldritch kindly signed my ticket, but then I tried to kiss him & he told me to f**k off (hangs head in deranged fangirl shame) I've been mostly sober at every other Sisters gig I've attended since!

I was there too, I thought it was one of their better shows & I liked the venue, as I'm sure the floor sloped towards the stage to make it easier for everyone to see.

My only problem with Norwich was finding a decent pub that served food before the gig! in the end I gave up & ate in Burger King :(

Encounters: Glasgow Barrowland 24/04/03 - my wife picked up a couple of backstage passes after helping out a very drunk and distressed young girl, who had been handed said passes earlier by those presumably in charge of arranging a suitable coterie for after the gig.
Long story short, this must rank as two of the most boring hours I have spent in my life. No booze available, Eldritch holed up in his dressing room with a couple of young girls, and Adam Pearson informing my wife that her cigarette smoke was bothering him (what Adam really meant was that we were cramping his style with the piece of jail bait he was trying to impress/seduce). :urff:

Two nights later at the Blank Canvas in Leeds I spot Eldritch, hood up, lurking at the side of the venue pre-gig. Fanboy that I am, I decide to doorstep him:

Me: "You're Andrew Eldritch and I claim my five pounds."
AE: "You can claim whatever you want."

I proceed to tell him that I've wanted the opportunity to meet/speak to him for years and other embarrassing "I'm not worthy" style nonsense.
Eldritch, realising I'm not going to leave, announces he needs to go off and get drunk.

You should have asked him about Hegel.
